Massive outcry from netizens over PM Lee’s promise to bring in 100,000 more foreign workers
A massive outcry has erupted in Singapore’s blogosphere with many netizens lampooning PAP Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for his “promise” to bring in 100,000 more foreign workers into Singapore.
Speaking in the United States a few days ago, PM Lee claimed that the rise in the number of foreign workers was “inevitable” due to the strong growth of the Singapore economy without substianting his statements.
“It cannot be helped because with the market so tight, if we don’t allow the foreign workers in, you are going to have overheating,” PM Lee was quoted as saying in the Straits Times.
PM Lee claimed that the PAP is “managing” the number of foreign workers by “calibrating” their levies to “moderate” the inflow.
“‘But even with that, I would imagine there would be more than 100,000 extra foreign workers this year. I cannot see it otherwise. We have to accept that,” he added.
Foreign workers help to reduce labor costs, thereby inflating GDP growth figures artificially in the process. A certain percentage of the PAP ministers’ multi-million pay is pegged to GDP growth – the higher the growth rates, the more money they bring home.
The outpouring of disgruntlement, disbelief and anger in cyberspace is an indication of the deep-seated unhappiness at the PAP’s pro-foreigner and ultra-liberal immigration policies.
Nearly a thousand comments are posted on Yahoo News so far with the majority of them against PM Lee’s initiative to bring in more foreign workers:
Singaporean:
“Singaporeans are jobless and receiving a very low pay and yet more foreigners coming!!!!!! Stop this shit PAP!!! PAP really sucks!!!”
Disappointed:
“I’m really disappointed. Why govt keep importing foreigners? And yet, the govt department does not recognise degrees from foreign universities (except those top tier-ed uni). Locals from such university cant find jobs in the government department. Why?”
Sekaran Renjiah:
“The PM is intending to allow another exodus of 100,000 foerign workers into S’pore’s workforce as he says “the move was unavoidable as the labour market here is bursting at its seams”. But I don’t understand where tis ppl gets their facts fr. Is nos. & percentages gd enough to make such drastic decisions ?? The reality is, there are tons of us out there looking for jobs like mad dogs but to no avail. Every weekend I receive job opportunities in the civil service thru [email protected]. But whenever I apply they send me an email stating regret in not being able to employ me. But yet again the post ad is repeated every week. Why is tat so? Does tis reflects tat there are no takers & thus foreign talents need to be employed?? Or is it tat by bringing foreign talents the gov can profit more in terms of levy or low wages??? Pls look after ur citizens 1st !! We voted for u to represent us not to imprison us !!!!”
Sad:
“I am 40 plus I am not able to get a job. I have send many job applications and even went to Alexandra Hospital personal for a job interview as a Therapist Assistance still I am not given the job. Yet they say they need more staff for the hospital industry. More foreigns are given the Job in the hopital even doing pharmacy assist packing of medicine behind counter they want chinese speaking staff. Even I look for a job as a parttime packer I went to the recruit express in Jurong for an interview still no call from the agency. But went you look in the paper there is lot of vacancy why are they not employing the Indian and Malay.I have always voted for the government but this election I have to think twice. They say singaporean are fussy and always complaining. As if we have nothing better to do. These foreigner come to singapore to make money and retire back in their homeland. Yes they may have their PR
but the time to retire they have a business in their homeland because their currency value low. In singapore dollar 400 in philippines is a bank manager salary 19000 peos. Two month ago I went for an interview as an operator the pay was $1000.
Three singaporean and one philippino PR went for the interview the Production manager and supervior was a filipo and they employ the the philippino PR and the three singaporean was not given the job. Why was the job not given to the singaporean because we are not capable to do the job, not truth they only like to employ their own people the filipo. Not only they come here to work they break family. They strip the men until he has nothing but only his brief then he has no where to go only to the street or old folk home. Nowday, I see people sleeping in void deck.”
Kamum:
“Allowing foreigners in is to displace those Singaporeans who don’t support them.Simple formula for staying in power so that in the name of politics they can enrich themselves further.PAP members are shameless.
The President of the most powerful nation, in terms of politics, military and economic is only paid fraction of our ‘Minister of State’. Are we saying our junior ministers are much more capable than any world leaders? Simply shameful and disgusting. If these ministers are allowed to run a company outside Singapore, I bet all of them will fail miserably. That is the reason we need more foreigners to work for Singapore and these elites could reap the benefit. Poor Singaporeans, strangers in their own land. Long live Gong Li.”

an idiot economist called song seng won from cimb was quoted as saying in today’s new paper that the tight labor market will cause a plate of nasi lemak to go up tp $10 a plate.
how the fk did a fool like that become an economist? even i as a layperson know that wages form about 35% of a company’s operating expenses. in other words, for my nasi lemak to have a threefold increase to $10, real wages need to increase by a whopping NINE (9) times! tio bo?
its not just about wages, other things matter too. cost of goods sold, rental, utilities. they are all unnaturally high. fking scare tactics propagated by msm. pissing me off big time.

I am a native Singaporean. I born here, grow up here, schooling here, live here and die here where I have no other place to go.
I studied hard here and went for the 4-years of my job training. Now, I am already jobless in the last 9-years. I try many times to apply a job in related to my training, but was no avail. Now, I realise that the foreign talents have already landed here during the last 9-years and had displaced me. Again, my health is not so good as before. How am I going to do now as my health is not so good? Work or no work, every month, I have to pay property tax, water and electrical bills, gas bill, Town Council Service bill, food, etcs; Today, Because of inflation, everythings are so expensive.
To all true, blue Singaporeans, I think most of you have the same feeling like me.

Trust only those who walk their talk.
Even Civil Service don’t want anyone greater than 35yrs.
Without the influx of 100,000, how to dilute the vote of 60% resident.
President election is just a testing ground before the real one and thru expert simulation, the electoral map can skillfully drawn.
Like it or not, that life. Unless you willing to accept $500 and $1800 to directly compete with foreigners.

THE MATHS, THE ECONOMIC AND LOGIC SEEMS TO BE SUCH A HUGE DISCONNECT. Or is my mind on holiday this morning? Or is my confusion the giddy effects of my Russian vodka for breakfast?
LHL attributed the second qtr strong rebound mainly to the “success of the two integrated resorts” and a sharp increase in pharmaceutical output.
He added that “the two resorts, which opened early this year, “made a significant difference” this year and boosted tourism to Singapore.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1069265/1/.html
One of the two resorts were opened VERY LATE into the second-quarter ending June 2010 – if it was opened before end June 2010. So how did that IMPACT strongly on Singapore 2nd Qtr GDP’s performance??
Which then follows the relevant thoughts if the tourism supporting that two resorts came in and rained money in billions of US Dollars from the sky in a few days in the casinos, entertainment and also retail spending ending June 2010????.
THE LATEST OFFICIAL FIGURES CAME OUT WAS FOR MAY 2010. That being so, there is no official statistics for June retail sales as of today. So how did LHL came to the conclusion that “tourism” influx of the two resorts were big factors behind that exceptional GDP Growth for the 2nd quarter of 2010???
I am COMPLETELY mystified.
Even more puzzling is that the May retail sales ACTUALLY FELL IN MAY compared to April 2010 by 0.9%.
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1069508/1/.html
So if retail sales FALLEN after the two resorts opened, how did the two resorts had allegedly benefited and lifted up 2nd Qtr GDP statistics???? MORE TOPURISM LESS RETAIL SALES FOR SINGAPORE ???Poor me, I am CONFUSED AGAIN.
But then LHL wants to bring in 100,000 additional foreigner into Singapore workforce. This one again is also mind-boggling to me.
We achieved an estimated 19.3% growth in the 2nd Qtr of 2010, right??? AND THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT THE ADDITIONAL 100,000 FOREIGN LABOUR.
Why do we SUDDENLY need 100,000 more foreigners when we have achieved the same “outstanding” performance without them? And then a bit more hilarious is LHL’s own caution that 2010 is an exceptional year (NOT TO BE REPEATED) AND THAT the forecast of double digit growth for 2010 actually assumes a much lower second half growth for Singapore. On top of that LHL asserts that “sustain growth, we don’t mean 9, 10 percent or 11 percent in future years but 3, 4, 5 percent steadily for another 10 years.”
In other words, we proved we didn’t need 100,000 more foreigners to grow the economy at such a fast pace in first half 2010, we will logically need LESSER number of foreigner in the 2nd half (when the economy will slow down) and even LESSER STILL AFTER THAT IN 2010, WHEN WE SETTLE TO 3% TO 6% OF SUSTAINABLE GROWTH.
My question is why we need to import “SURPLUS 100,000 additonal FOREIGN WORKERS” – that WE DEFIFINTELY DON’T NEED??? Is it IMMIGRATION policy making on the run of panic reaction, and no economic logic or thinking?
Or am I drunk with Russian vodka this morning for breakfast??? Or is that a camouflage to bring in more foreigners in disguise? Someone be kind enough to clear my muddled-headed thinking here?

When Dr.Mahathir said Malay Singaporeans are marginalized .So let that never happen in Malaysia if Chinese centric party like DAP takes control of Malaysia….PAP protested.
Of course,PAP and MSM wrote tons of denials. But we locals knew the goddamned truth. They were and still are.
But there is another side to the coin.Wonder if Dr.Mahathir knows.
That now,the vast majority of local Chinese are also marginalized. The flooding of SG with foreigners actually hurts the majority local Chinese more than ever.Never mind if indeed the vast majority of foreigners flooding SG indeed are from China.Neither are the local Indians any happy that Indians from India are now ruining their lives.Malays?I really don’t know of PAP allows foreigners of Malay ethnicity to crowd SG to the detriment of local Malays.
But something emerges here.
About our Confucianism culture. What PAP and MM touted and promoted as the ‘ Asian value’.Is that our Achilles heel?….is this aspect of our Chinese Confucianism culture that causing us to tolerate PAP this far?
Why?
Because Western leaders seems to know when to quit.Good examples are George Washington-the first USA president and the Roman dictator Cincinnatus —absolute power did not corrupt them.Even Mahathma Gandhi of India did not sue for political power ,though he was in the heart and mind of every Indian. So was Nelson Mandela .
So what is that even an African culture cherishes that a Confucianism culture lacks —in political maturity?….I mean not only to call it quit when their time is over but more–that is, to tolerate and accept politically powerful warlords holding on to power beyond their usefulness?—-what ,please pray tell me.
Is that why PAP promote’ Asian values ‘ and import PRC over others?—Because essentially Confucianism culture is more tolerant of ruthless dictators than other cultures?…is it a gene or a DNA factor?
At some point we have to face this question. No point barking at the wrong tree. Why?
Because every one of us has the power to change a regime we no longer want. That is exactly what democracy is all about. Not forgetting that PAP stays in power through elections…UNLESS:-
Our Confucius culture allows PAP to cling on to power forever.

Singaporeans just shut up and listened to the Prime Minister. Singaporeans wants PAP and we must listened to PAP and no choice and if you are truly unhappy then prove otherwise by bringing the educated Opposition to represent us or else just shut up. Why all these is happening because the POWER is with them so they will do whatever they want . We cannot fight them as they are given the mandate to rule and show them this election that they will become POWERLESS and no point shouting against their policies as they are not interested in the actual Singaporeans. At the moment we are dead duck and in this election let show them who are more powerful.

i am a true blue singaporean boy who has served his NS. my family have been here for 4 generations.
the PAP’s FT policy is not being very helpful to the ordinary working man on the street as our wages are being depressed.
WE ARE BEING DISCRIMINATED AND MARGINALISED in favor of FTs who have never paid his dues on the military fields of SAFTI/Tekong – and i am of chinese background.
I have been displaced in favour of chinamen/indiamen/banglaman/Filo man/ etc.
My chinese language proficiency is useless in the face of cheapo cheena /SUB continent FTs.
Being marginalised by people of your skin colour is one of the greatest Singaporean humiliations that we have to endure.

LISTEN! LISTEN! LISTEN NATIVE SINGAPOREANS AND PLEASE LISTEN GOOD!
It is absolutely no point in letting out steam. Blaming the PAP is definitely no use. Look at the crux of the problem. How did the current plight of native Singaporeans evolved? Who caused this situation? Who is the guilty party? To these questions, the answer is we, we the native Singaporeans. We allowed the PAP to hoodwink us that their one-party rule is the way to go if we want to live happily and peacefully.
The current one-party rule must not stand at all. It must be demolished at all costs for whatever may happen after that; be it good, bad or worst. We the natives have dugged our own graves by allowing the PAP to govern us with absolute power with no any kind of checks or balances.
It is now or never. We must stop PAP in its track. There is definitely no other alternative. Come the next GE, vote PAP out to get rid of the ruling family(you know who). Only then we will see light at the end of the tunnel. Change must be done in the next GE. Don’t wait any more. Don’t take anymore chances with the PAP. Vote wisely. Vote out this regime.
We must come together to save ourselves and our country. Stop Whining! Stop Complaining! Stop Grumbling! Stop Blaming the PAP! Stop anything that you are doing that is not going to save us or our country. Wake Up! Take on the responsibility to put things right in our country. Don’t expect PAP to change for good.
We cannot expect the world to help us. In fact there is nobody out there in the entire world who would help us. The US is not going to help us to effect a regime change like it did in Iraq.
VOTE PAP OUT IN THE NEXT GE!

Lamenting about the dilemma that concerns foreign workers is akin to throwing eggs against stones hoping that the rocks will crack. Singaporeans really need to do some serious soul searching and look for the real cause of this avalanche of massive problems of rising prices, unemployment and diminishing opportunities. When and how did this deadly ‘disease’ start? It started in the nineties. Demand for so called foreign banking experts to fortify the financial system of Singapore. One higher paid group of workers in turn generate the services of more lower skilled workers from Asian regions to satiate their needs in many other areas. Was this avoidable? Not really. Familiar with derived demand? That’s when supply for a need is introduced to sustain a segment of the economy. One example importing more maids to serve the highly paid exPATS. But what was missed?
This vicious circle of introducing more of their clans into Singapore continued till costs in many sectors become increasingly suppressed for the benefit of the entrepreneurs. Who wouldn’t want fast profits at the time when new products and services were flooding all markets in the world including Singapore? Businesses had to move real fast in the heady days of profiteering and expansion in order to stay afloat on the waves of globalisation which continue to claim all sorts of economic casualties in many unimaginable areas. Many successful businesses we learnt thrived in the nineties and beyond at the expense of many proper principles of conducting commerce with a LONG TERM outlook. We know the names of those who failed. Where is the connection? The lessons from collapse of financial systems in US and Europe were also repeated signals but never seriously taken as reminders of the need to be conservative. That in itself requires another frame of discussion though very closely connected to some of the demand problems in all Asian nations today. And consumers unfortunately continue to fuel this demand for many ‘unnecessary’ goods and services which seek to retain the need for foreign workers. Whilst demand must be present to drive economies, there is demand for necessaries and demand for the unnecessary. One need not be a mint foreign uni graduate to put two and two together. See the answer? Perfection in the conduct of businesses with the twin goals of profits and nurturing societal welfare at the same time. That is where the target should be. Then again when corporate profits swell, lessons will quickly be forgotten. And the cycle commences again.
From the nineties till today, citizens of other nations besides traditional maid supplying ones got a whiff of the prosperous pastures at your doorsteps and the vicious spiral of more entries continued right under the nose of ordinary ‘true blue’ lower to middle income Singaporeans. Like the dam that burst at several places, the ‘flood’ of foreign workers needs now to be managed with the focus on regulating the ‘flow’ into necessary areas. There are many solutions to the Singaporean problem and most are tied to other nations. One way is to redeploy local unemployed Singaporeans with qualifications into the financial systems AT ACCEPTABLE AND REASONABLE rates by replacing deadwood foreign experts who are paid horrendously gluttonous salaries. Another is to extend Singaporean expertise offshore in nearby regions and generate more technical industries rapidly for both Singaporeans and foreign natives which will encourage them to stay there. Not impossible and very compromising given the ’seriousness’ of the dilemma? Create your opportunities and divert your resources.

Population Replacement Program. Import 100,000 workers and keep granting PRs to these people. Then say we have not reached the quota yet. Then import more and grant more PRs. Convert earlier PR batch to citizens and the cycle goes on. Lo and behold in a span of five years or the next GE, local born and bred Singaporeans will be outnumbered by imported ones.
Bottom line. You voted them in… ONLY YOU can vote them out.

How does the PM justify and quantify that Singapore needs another 100,000
foreigners?? The figure pluck from thin air?? Which sectors of the economy
require workers?? Has Singaporeans, those who are jobless, been asked to fill up the vacancies?? You always say that ‘Singaporeans come first’ didn’t you?? If the economy is so heated up, why the hell there are so many jobless singaporeans out there?? If the ecomomy is that good, why the hell we see so many gloomy faces in the streets, in the malls, in the trains, in the buses and hawker centres??

So you’re enraged by the callous, self-serving PAP. Enough is enough. You swear to vote them out. Fine.
Now how are you going to do that if no opposition party candidate stands for election in your ward? Please tell me that?
It will cost around $16,000 election deposit per candidate – almost $100k per 6-person GRC. You don’t need to be an accountant to work out why such an outrageous amount is set, do you? Where are the opposition parties impoverished by strict restrictions on fund-raising and sued to bankruptcy going to get the money to pay for this, not to mention all the other costs that go into running for election?
Did you put your hand in your pocket to help support them? If you can’t afford money, did you volunteer to help out in any other way you can? Or are you sitting back complaining bitterly as usual and hoping God/Karma/Lightning will magically strike down your enemies without you having to lift a finger?
Look in the mirror. All your problems are self-inflicted. The PAP is your creation. Their demise is in your hands but do you still have the stomach for a fight? You man or you mouse?

LHL has mismanaged the economy! Too high the growth is a problem rather than blessing as we will see high inflation that cause the real wage to go down. In fact, Singapore should not build IR in the first place to ensure steady growth and also there will no overcrowding problem. This clearly shows that LHL is incompetent!

Nothing went right after LHL became PM. Due to his liberal immigration policy, the property price skyrocketed. The public transport become too congested like those trains in the third world countries. The low income group suffers further reduction in salary due to large influx of foreign worker despite the high jump in living cost. Temesek Holding and GIC lost billion due to their stupidity when they jumped into investing in US bank when every investors were avoiding banking share. GST increase to 7% to help the poor but no or little help provided to the poor. Poor leadership when problem occurred e.g. disappear for 11 days after the incidents………..

The garment is holding various dialogue sessions in all CCs with the grassroot leaders to try to get them to accept that immigrants are required for Singapore – to fill up the drop in birth rate, to do the jobs that Singaporean won’t do such as construction, healthcare and service sectors, bus drivers, to enrich the cultural landscape etc etc.
I agreed to some extend. But when my admin job is being replaced by foreigner who accept 50% of my salary, and then I am not able to find another job as I am already 55, how am I going to accept that the foreigners are good for us?
There should be a quota in all companies to have certain number of citizen before they could hire foreigners.

Last chance to get PAP out..
After next election is about 2017.. How many PRs will have become new citizens by then? Think about it.. Think about your chances of getting a family and a happy life.. Do you really want your children to suffer in the future amidst a population of 6.5 million ppl, without FT’s children vying with you for school places and jobs? COEs, HDBs.. All these issues are very true..

The only thing really getting ‘overheated’ is the Prime Minister’s salary.
Less any further clarification by the authorities about what they truly mean by ‘overheated’- that the demand for labour is so high, it’s considered ‘overheated’, I think that the only thing really getting ‘overheated’ is the Prime Minister’s salary.

Folks,
I guess maybe its time for all true blue singaporeans here to fight for our own citizens right now. Not only that, i think maybe its time to start real protest against our this evil garhment by protesting them in all garhment agencies.. Name it, just like the rest of the countries do that in real street protesting against their garhment when they have been treated unfairly.
I personally do not see that by our votes is still able to cast this evil garhment out. We need to go out there and protest!
Period.

So simple yet Singaporean do not know. So duno how singaporean get PSLE, O level and NUS.
No foreigner, 3 company go after 1 worker(singaporean), so his salary go up.
Got foreigner, 3 company go after 1 worker(singaporean) 2 worker(foreigners), so his salary stay the same and more work to do, as foreigner work harder so that they can earn enough OT and go home buy land. Singaporean work so hard, then Wife or hubby find another man or woman. Children go glue sniffing, ah lian or ah beng.
That is difference.
WAKE UP.
Singaporean should know, 3 people want to buy 1 durian, the durian is expensive. 3 people want to buy 1 durian, but go 5 durians, then price go down.
Same for MRT, HDB, etc etc. too many foreigners = Housing and MRT and Cars go up and up many percent. But your Salary only up 1%.
Salary also the same lah.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHERE LHL IS HEADING FOR, looking at your comment below.
“I think all hell is going to break lose when the magical growth figures start to evaporate in the next couple of quarters.”
I believe the shocks will come sooner than later, maybe within this coming qtr. Just look at Alcoa, Intel, GE, Goldman Sach, Citigroup, Bank of America corporate results just announced in this opening week of the US corporate June qtrly reporting season, it is worrying if one looks at the number closely.
On the surface, Alcoa and Intel are inspiring but when you dissect the accounting numbers, it is horrid. GE is bellwhether stock and Citigroup, Goldman Sach and Bank of America all reported revenue fall despite greatly improved results – how can the US economy be strong?
http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/Default.asp?refresh=on
No wonder all these 4 stock prices drop heavily tonight and US market decline steepen – currently down over 160 points on DJIA despite the “sparkling” results release.
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/ge-profit-up-16-as-ge-capital-recovers-2010-07-16
and the US consumer confidence which attempt recovery this year plummetted again in July after plunging in June.
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/us-july-consumer-sentiment-plummets-2010-07-16
The signs are increasingly pointing to the US recovery story having stalled and Chinese trade statistics just announced for June was scary – big drop in imports of raw materials indicating strongly forward slowdown in manufacturing and/or construction in the months ahead. This came after Chinese Government reported a slower than expected 10.3% growth in the 2nd Qtr.
Only Japan and Germany’s manufacturing is still strong but will that last if China and/or US continues to slide faster than expected on the downtrend again? I wonder.
And then suddenly we got more than 100,000 surplus foreign workers floating around – all thanks to the Govenrment’s immigration policy on the run, not careful analysis of sustainability.

I dont think they really care. They know they sure win bec higher HDB prices will benefit the HDB majority voters. They know for sure, the GDP 15% growth would justify their $million salaries. They know for sure, they will win bec of the GRC and walkovers, NMP and cooling period, powerful ST and monopolised papers in Singapore. They sure win bec now FT and new citizens constituted every 2/5 of the total Singaporeans populations. They sure win bec they have the backing of the machinery and powerful ISD. Sure win bec Singaporeans are compliant and kiasi, kiasu and they will discredit and frighthen Singaporeans who are easily frighthen. I am one of them.

One killed, 8 injured in accident along Chai Chee Street
By Evelyn Choo | Posted: 16 July 2010 1825 hrs
SINGAPORE : An accident between a double-decker bus Service Number 87 and a large tree-pruning vehicle left a 50-year-old male passenger dead and several others injured on Friday.
The collision occurred along Chai Chee Street in Bedok.
Police have arrested a 33-year-old Bangladeshi foreign worker from the landscape management company for causing death by negligence.
Shattered glass windows, a fallen tree, and major traffic congestion were the result of the accident which left one dead and eight passengers – including a pregnant woman – injured.
The bus was behind the lorry when it went to the middle lane. But little did the bus driver know that the head of the crane was protruding into the middle lane, and this scraped against the side of the bus.

Too many cheap unskilled foreign workers already. This country is going to the dogs.
What are they trying to do????
Giving driving licence cheaply to foreigners who can’t speak English. Now letting unskilled FW operate machinery.
If Singaporeans ddon’t vote for change, then we must really be daft and ignorant.

Its not like everywhere we hear outcry.
These outcries are on the net and these are just a small small fraction of the electorate.
singaporeans have not changed, mentality-wise.
Its easier to win over foreigners who were brought up in a different environment or system or culture. These can definitely change singapore because they are different. Why is it that singaporeans are each unique individuals and yet have something in common?
Its because of the environment they grow up in.
Get my point? Change is impossible.

Smart foreigners (PRs) won’t be sinking roots here permanently. It is a transit stop for them because they too get replaced by new foreigners. They also know what are the insurmountable problems facing this country. When time comes, they leave. There may be new arrivals to replace those who left. Same cycle repeat. Will they change Singapore? I doubt it. Singaporeans will always be Singaporeans by nationality of birth and NS experiences.
We will make our own home and find our own political destiny. Internet keeps us informed of the real things which Government-controlled media will find increasingly irrelevant of public trusts and believe in.

Please read at the Posting, it is a list of complain
Please read at the Comments, it is a list of complain
2 things that received more than 50 responese are Foreign Workers and HDB flats, besides it is entertainment gossip on church, jack neo
95% of all Singaporean are Consumers Politics, that love to complain, individuals or interest groups are hoping for the Govt. to take noticed of them. (even our PAP Govt. knows that at the end of day, they hope Govt to intervene on everything) I could see it crsytal clear
Our Govt. will give economical hands out, the result is always the same b’cos Consumers Voters are very please their self-interest had been met, from Cheap Flats, Big salary Jobs, Big Bonus, Cheap Transports…etc all these stuff is so easy for PAP Govt. they can deliver these goods (Besides, it is the same “Repeative Posting” of these Econonmical Voters that received the most comments)
Well, Tea go ahead, I challenge you, what do you personally think Politics is about??? Let me guess “Consumers Complain???”

Has the economy expanded by 13 to 15 percent that justify 100,000 more additional foreign workers ?
.
.
The Department of Statistics had on its front homepage the following Key Indicator [See Ref #1]
[QUOTE]
Advance GDP up 19.3% in 2Q 2010
Total Trade up 27.6% in June 2010
Index of Industrial Production up 58.6% in May 2010
Total Population was 4.99 million in June 2009
CPI up 3.2% in May 2010
Retail Sales down 3.4% in May 2010
Employment was 3.03 million in May 2010
Unemployment Rate (SA) was 2.2% in Mar 2010
[UNQUOTE]
.
.
Were these numbers massaged – especially those related to employment ?
In the Manpower Ministry website published in January 2010 – Table 1.1 Employment showed employment level as at December 2009 was 2,991.2 Million covering Manufacturing, Construction, and Services. [See Ref #2]
Table 2.1 of the same Report showed that by end-2009 there was a Redundancy of 22,700 workers, Early Release of Contract Workers 3,200, and Retrenchment of 19,500.
Table 2.2 showed ‘Redundancy by Sector’ with a total of 22,700 for all sectors covering Manufacturing, Construction and Services.
Table3.1 ‘Unemployment Rate {Quarterly} showed Seasonally Adjusted Overall of 2.1%, and Resident being 3.0% at December 2009.
Table 3.2 ‘Unemployment Rate {Annual} showed Overall of 3.0% and for Resident at 4.3% by December 2009.
With all the negative numbers do we need another 100,000 foreign workers ?
Can the economic expansion of 13% to 15% be real, or simply blowing hot air up everyone’s arse ?

Hey, Atobe, you got some great statistic there! In one of my post on this thread I quote this headline source …”Singapore’s retail sales fell 0.9% on-month in May…” from
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1069508/1/.html
Beneath in the body content of that source, I missed out this REVEALING CONTENT
“Compared to the same period last year, retail sales in May decreased by 3.4 per cent…. WHICH AGREED WITH YOUR QUOTE OF STATISTIC DEPARTMENT DATA THAT “Retail Sales down 3.4% in May 2010″ WHEN COMPARED TO 2009.
Is it not amazing of of the following facts proven here -
a) May 2010 retail sales fell 3.4% compared to May 2009
b) April 2010 sales were lower than April 2009 by 2.5% ( i.e. 3.4% – 0.9%).
c)April and May 2009 was in deep recession near its lowest bottom in March 2009.
YET LHL ASSERTED IN MEDIA INTERVIEW THAT THE OPENING OF TWO RESORTS BOOSTED TOURISM WHICH ALONG WITH PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR ( very small manufacturing sector here) lifted our second quarter GDP to an estimated 19.3%. THIS IS REALLY CONFOUNDING OF MY COMPREHENSION!!!
http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporebusinessnews/view/1069265/1/.html
The comments in quote of LHL was
“Mr Lee, speaking to reporters at the end of an official visit to the US, attributed the rebound mainly to the success of the two integrated resorts and a sharp increase in pharmaceutical output.
He said the two resorts, which opened early this year, “made a significant difference” this year and boosted tourism to Singapore”
HOW DID WE ACHIEVED A 19.3% GDP growth in 2nd Qtr 2010 due to tourism boost when 2010 MAY RETAIL SALES WERE WORSE THAN 2009 by 3.4% and April 2010 is worse off by 2.5% than April 2009???
The arithmetics don’t add up. So your question of “Has the economy expanded by 13 to 15 percent that justify 100,000 more additional foreign workers ?” is perfectly poignant, pertinent and demanding of justifiable substantiation!!
In recession, we need less foreign workers. If LHL agreed on public record that 2010 is an “exceptional year” and retails sales were so BAD in reality in 2010 COMPARED TO 2009 AND ONLY PHARMACEUTICAL SECTOR IS UP, where does he proposed to deploy this additional 100,000 workers? Either LHL did not elaborate or the media kept silence.
Is it in retail sales which is worse than 2009 recession? Or is it going to be in the pharmaceutical fields where we got loads of unemployed life sciences graduates?.
The justification in support for adding in another 100,000 foreign workers in UNDISCLOSED SECTOR NEEDS SUBSTANTIATION and explanation of economic logic and realities proved up by contradictory statistics seemingly to be refuting of LHL public comments.
I am drunk and lost for comprehension on this puzzle. Anyone wants to help???

Bro, do you guys know how much “blood money” these FTs will help to bring to the towkays?
Taking $10K as a typical sum that FTs use to “bribe” middlemen/towkays, that would be 100,000 x $10K = $1 Billion !!!
Expect more towkays splashing these money in KTVs, luxury goods etc.

I am NOT surprised. A lot of the very rich in Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xiamen etc are NOT “natives” – they come from other parts of China. With the kind of wages, “natives” except business people and corrupt political class cannot afford the luxurious housing in big Chinese coastal cities. The “rich” Chinese you spoke of are very very wealthy. If you think they depend on “salary” here for their lifestyle, it won’t meet their “basic” needs. I met a bunch of Argentinian (passport)- PRC Chinese in Australia. Whosh!! they took us out to restaurants in Sydney asking for the “best” crayfish, crab, prawn seafood without asking the price, paying cash over counter and not bothering about change. THAT WAS A DECADE AGO!
They are still communist party “bosses” in China with local residency right (when China does not permit dual citizenship) and runs all kinds of business, and inside China they are still mafia ruling town – thanks to corrupt greasing everywhere. The rich kids you met is probably seeking another passport ( from Singapore) surveying the world, looking to upgrade themselves and fortune.
These kids would NOT make it to top national universities but study in joint Sino-foreign univesities outfits ( to get a foreign degree). Parents wants face. Let alone abroad, they won’t get that paper scroll to show associates and relations that their kids have “arrived”. A Canadian PRC professor told me that one of his student refused to do assignment, disrupt class, refused to sit for examination and demand a qualification at the end as his heavenly-destined right. Confronted of his reasoning of refused assessment assignment – the reply came as ” my father got business!” – leaving the obvious void of WTF are you asking???.
So through connections, he “passed” and “graduated” against the objection of the professor and against the objections of foreign joint venture “prestigious” University. What nonsense of reputation? It is money venture!! China and rich Chinese from there are NOT Singaporeans nor will they ever be Singaporeans. Unless one been to China and dealing directly with them, their behaviour will always confound us – at the very least, some are “proactive” of mindset a few cunning steps ahead and we are thinking of of how to react in the next step.

YES, you are dead right. The economy and management of economy is a circus in this political zoo. Any foreign PR awake and watching would know his or her “risks” of changing citizenship UNLESS his/her country of origin accept dual citizenship or he/she has connections to reclaim back his original citizenship and residential rights like China via corrupt means. If you don’t have that kind of connection, then be taxi driver in Singapore.
This is a sweatshop to enrich a few self-selected and wealthy businessmen. The ordinary Singaporeans and “new citizens” are mere serfs in slavery within the Animal Farm setting. PRs exploiting opportunities here will broadcast propaganda in favour of their temporary political master.

The condo I stayed with my parents have so few Singaporeans. But there’s lots of China, Indian, and Philippines people. I go to a nearby coffee shop. 5 China guys were at the Chicken rice stall. I asked them did u cook chicken rice? they said yes and that their boss gave them the recipes. WTH!!?? So now even our tradition and secret recipes are leaked out to foreigners. Then I asked the auntie next stall how long these China guys have worked there. She said 6 months and before that was an old Singaporean couple who didn’t own the stall. I went to the coffee shop toilet and another young 20yearold China guy was washing the toilet bowl. I asked him if he could let me use the cubicle first. He spoke in a heavy inland dialect which I could understand if i listen intently. I struck up a casual conversation to learn that he has just arrived not long ago and what he earned here is enough to feed his family in rural part of China. I was curious how he got this job. He said the boss of the coffee shop is from China.

Hope we are not into the DARK ages.
The whole of western Europe and even the US today have to import labor (cheap) from elsewhere for SURVIVAL.
If we had done Economics we will understand that globalisation means the survival of the cheapest & the best.
Singapore is already handicapped being without economies of scale (no domestic market to break the bulk), no mineral recources, etc.
Only FOOLS don’t understand how we can protect our locals (not natives for we aren’t the Orang Lauts) without our being able to compete internationally exporting our services & products, cheap & good.
Money doesn’t fall from the sky.
For example, Malaysia can continue to rob Peter (Chinese taxpayers) to pay and buy crutches for Paul (Malay bumis). It can’t last. We are already seeing unpopular austrity measures being put in place now – the milk cows and golden geese are disappearing fast from migration and population decline 46% in the 60s to a mere 22% today).
Frankly we are here because we have astute thinkers in the PAP who can scan the horizon with great accuracy; not 100% though for we aren’t GOD.

I may only occasionally respond to the articles on TR, but rest assured that I read almost if not all of the opinions published here. One thing you can be completely sure of is that I will NOT be voting for ruling PAP this coming GE, for I recognise the dire need now for some meaningful opposition in Parliament to balance the increasingly one way policies being force-fed down Sgporeans’ throats, NCMPs scheme sorry I don’t buy at all, just a distraction and red herring, in fact quite laughable, if it weren’t so tragic for the real meaning of democracy.
Oh and many of my friends, colleagues and family members DO NOT respond at all to TR or any other blogs but I would say that they are more aware now than at any other time in the past, that something is truly not right about the direction that this government is going, and we are talking about people who have mostly voted for the PAP all along; sensible, practical, successful but yet honest people who have a real stake here, AND who still morally care about what’s happening to our fate whether concerning the poor, the disadvantaged or the already successful strata, in other words the distinction between right and wrongs of current policies are now being questioned and put under the microscope.
And I believe that the governing PAP knows this well, and are accordingly worried despite appearances to the contrary, so let no one tell you otherwise. You may yet be surprised that how many would contemplate and finally make the cross-over when the final scales are weighed.

Perhaps many countries that need to or want to increase GDP can learn from PAP’’s stance – simply allow foreigners to come in and benefit and show off that we are doing well. Even a moron can do that lah. Instead of innovation and solutions that benefit the country and its people, the govt has taken a short-cut which in the long run is going to have disastrous effects. It is a recipe for disaster and chaos!
Of course, it is absolutely without doubt the respective govt or ruling party that implements such a policy of importing foreign labour to inflate GDP would be given the marching orders even before one bats an eyelid!
Sad indeed that Singaporeans are being taken for a ride and scrutinize and read between the lines – it is all for $$$ (lest one forgets lah, Ministerial wages are pegged to GDP perfomance) and political power.
Singaporeans ought to shoulder partial responsibility for all these state of affairs – all cos we stupidly voted for a one-party rule and today look at the mess. The system is being exploited for political and financial rewards. Nothing more nothing less.
PS – We should welcome foreign labour or what-have-you but it must NEVER BE AT THE EXPENSE OF natives. A good eg is the predicament of many having to deal with skyrocketing HDB prices which has come about cos of disregard of the negative impact and and incompetency. However that is not the case today with these so-called foreign ”talent’ or the need to have more foreign imports as the incumbents are not truthful and constantly lying and shifting blame and dodging issues that matter to Singaporeans.
Singaporeans never came first – it was crap talk and one must be a simpleton to buy into these lies.

Clearly, the reported comments of PM LHL that was made with such joyful glee can only be another propaganda effort to build a huge bubble of “feel good hoopla”.
This bubble will continue to be pump up to culminate with the NDP 2010 parade, fireworks, and partying at the Padang; which will then be followed by the over-budget celebrations for YOG 2010.
All these “feel good hoopla” will lead immediately to Election 2010 during the September 2010 school holidays, when the class rooms in selected schools are available as Poll Stations, and the school teachers will be recruited as Election Officials.
The ironic part of it all is that the harder the efforts are made to pump up the “feel good hoooopla” bubble, the Heaven is not co-operating and is spoiling the efforts like a “wet blanket” – [no pun intended].
NDP 2010 may just be a washout as happened so many times every 9 August – during the early days when LKY and his cabinet had to withstand the rain during the NDP held every year in the morning.
It was only when the age of LKY and his cabinet began show as they reached their mid-50s, and the NDP was re-scheduled to late evening, when the weather was recorded to be better.
When National Day was celebrated in the morning, with participants gathering as early as 4.30am, and celebrating the sunrise as dawn break open a new day with such wonderous symbolism, it was great to enjoy the cool rain that followed to relieve the participants from late morning heat during the route march.
Singapore prosperity blossome from 9 August 1966 through the 1970s and early 1980s.
In 1986, National Day was rescheduled to co-incide with the setting sun and into dusk, the ominous decline of Singapore’s economy was quite telling when the 1987 economic recession hit Singapore like a lighting out of the blue.
Can the mere words of PM LHL changed the fortunes of Singapore and justify the additon of 100,000 and more foreign workers ?
He will have to reschedule the NDP to the morning half and brave the rain as those who had done so in the 1960s through the early 1980s.

It’s the factor inputs of another 100K of foreign workers needed just to keep this ponzi scheme kind of economic growth going. Most layman will think “more workers will help slow down GDP growth or prevent overheating; truth of the matter it’s that “more workers will increase GDP growth and lower wages even further”.
It’s totally disingenious to suggest “more workers will prevent overheating”.
But we all know it can’t gone on. And when the music stops, there will be no chair for those left here to sit on. That’s why some minister pointed out that “Singapore’s economy will decline if population doesnt increase”.

You can plan to import even 1 million foreigners provided you must filled up local employment quota first. Currently lots of my Indian and Malay friends are not able to find a job and they have been waiting for more than 6 months some even up to 1 year and still unemployed. Most jobs required Mandarin speaking and the Malays and Indians already so demoralized with this kind of discrimination and yet govt planning to bring in these FTs. Please have a mankind and patriotic feeling for the minority here. So who are these 100,000 foreigners govt is bringing in and if majority from China than too bad, too sad for all non-speaking Mandarin Singaporean.
Seriously, Singapore is facing more serious public issues lately – the flash floods, security lapses(MRT), Sentosa development, China illegal immigrants, prostitution, influx of foreign workers, job issues and now this importing of 100,000 so called foreigners….Well, if the job market are so well blossoming do check out all those job advertisement in the papers it will make you wake up. I hope the authority will also take a deep look on the micro problems we are facing instead of being to self-centered towards the macro issues. Remember we have been tolerant and respecting on another despites race, religion and culture and served the national service altogether. Give us strength to live in harmoniously and do not take everything for granted.
I am writing this cos I have experienced the difficulty in securing a possible job, it took me 12 months to get a job and the pain I went through was so unbearable and I nearly want to migrate to Canada or possibly back to India.
Ok god bless Singapore and the people and the govt.

Just after having said it, there was another tragic accident at Bedok in which a crane smashed into a double-decker SBS bus killing one innocent victim and injuring mant others.
I do not blame the Banglasdeshi worker who operated the crane. I’m sure he was asked to do the job despite having no or very little experience. While we, Singaporeans have to go through all kinds of stringent tests to get a license, the foreigners were entrusted into jobs requiring these licenses without scrutiny of their capabilities.

Since there are so many jobless, with experience and the know how we should do it by getting ourselves together, work out and ensure true blue Singaporeans are given the priorty. It will not work shhoting here and writing. Do we have a Singaporean Society to take care of Singaporeans. We must not be into any political parties, the objective will be SINGAPORE FOR SINGAPOREANS.Regardless of Race, Language and Religion. WE must not be divide and put oor family first. We all work to ensure our family and our children will enjoy the fruits. Every Man For Himself, I still NEED to draw big paycheck so as to live comfortable in Singapore. IT RUN IN THE FAMILEE. I did my calculation, from the ways local singaporeans that do not dare to vote for the opposition, 100,000 of NEW SINGAPOREANS is more than enough to make sure i will still get the majority votes. Singaporean are actually quite poor thing… You know its not easy for us to find jobs overseas, in other countries, they will give the job to their own people first. Like i have a friend who went to Italy to study design, he passed and try to apply for work permit but was rejected. In other countries, they look after their own people first. But in Singapore we welcome foreigners with open arms and our own people has to fight with them for a job. So we can’t go overseas and our own country also don’t look after us… what we gonna do?

Pros : FT fill up the gaps(Jobs that Singaporeans do not want) and keep our cost low so that Singapore can be competitive. It also gives the impression of higher productivity per dollar as Singapore’s productivity actually falls compared to other developed countries.
Cons : FT keeps overall salary low that Singaporean salaries are not inline with the rise in real estate, automobiles and general inflation
Unless Singaporeans increase their productivity, there is no way this influx of foreign workers are going to stop. Also foreigners are not having it as easy as most people think. Check out this blog http://www.chinalass.blogspot.com. Imagine working for SGD800 dollars working a 12hour day… I’m not sure any Singaporeans is willing to do that.

Papayas are placing their wrong bet on foreigners, because foreigners would return to their country later, bringing back good money. What is left in singapore would then be dropping properties and unskilled true singaporeans who are are not being invested for the job.
Have we reach that stage where we cannot import FT in large number? Perhaps these events would help:
1. Papayas voted out by too many frustrated singaporeans.
2. Other country (ex: china) look like a better destination. China likes to copy us, who know it may happen in 5 years time. By then, all PRCs would go back home.
3. Our rising cost of living translate to “not profitably” for FT to come here.
4. A freak giant octopus and his pal, Gozilla, smash singapore shenton way and marina bay to pieces. And, yes, Orchard Road would be flooded again by these 2 buddies.

I wish to return to Singapore but until now, have no luck in getting a job even if I am willing to take less than 1/3 of my current pay. I must be out of my mine in wanting to return home but the truth is that I cant raise a family if I choose to live overseas and be separated from my family.
Why do you need those Indians and Chinese if we can tap into the Singaporean pool overseas? The point is that you have allowed so many imports so call ‘FT’ who actually are cheap labourers who make neither contribution nor benefits to the economy but to lower the living standard of this country.

Singaporeans are paying a very heavy price for having opted to have a one-party sytem where there is lack of trasnparency, lack of responsibility, lack of equity and lack of sense of justice.
Besides the claims of GDP in the past as well as now and the futurizing – till today there has never been independent verification to these statistics or what-have-you. Extrapolate to HDB,CPF, Transportation and Health statistics put out by the incumbents – the same bullshitting! A conniving main stream media is of no help n better to label it as lame media.
I doubt it would have regressed to such a sorry state of affairs if it had been otherwise – a two-party/proportional representation or multi-party. The benefit to the citizens when GDP performance is concernedd is a mere trickle effect as opposed to Ministers and their vested interests are now benefitting and going to in time to come.
We can cajole, complain, whine but nothing doing lah. The damage is done and the only solution is for the masses to summon courage with conviction to end this tale of tyranny and greed for power n $$$.
As long as one single individual votes for PAP – it is adding to the misery and suffering and also perpetuating the ‘tyranny’ of this self-serving lot. Each vote for PAp means – yes, to lack of transparency, yes to lack of unchecked immigration, yes to lack of …. yes to ridiculous HDB prices, yes to dubious price increases of Transportation and one can add on and an ugly pix of what IS will have one sighing lah.
PS – This so-called Free Trade Agreements (or …?) that the govt signed with some Asean as well as other countries – no one knows the actual contents and who are real beneficiaries. Why? one-party rule and a muzzled media

Commonsense will tell you by bringing 100,000 more to Sg, it will create more jobs. As the saying goes: money make money. But low, dirty, heavy, difficult jobs will mostly be occupied by FT and locals will mostly take the light, easy and better paid jobs. Why so -Sg has to expand fast and to fight another recession from coming, Sg must innovate and to expand/produce more. This is also partly the reason to justify our ministers and top civil servants pay. They have to rely on so many others to earn more money. Sg has nothing except with brain power, creative minds and imaginations.

100,000 does not mean exactly 100,000 I bet you its much much more than that.
He’s just saying because people already notice the rise in foreigners. and now, he wants to bring in much more. Think about it..
100 000 more workers, do u think it will be noticeable? its just 1 foreigner in every 500 locals.
I dont think so.. its probably 500,000. How do we know the figures, since everything is not transparent.
This country is not democratic. If you do a poll now on who wants to bring in foreigners NO ONE LOCAL WILL AGREE TO THIS. Majority will say No.

(like starhub , MI and many other foreign company in spore supporting our Singaporean people )
THUS WE DONT NEED TO PAY A HIGH SALARY…. of $3.900.000.00 to singaporean minister but pay $390,000.00 to a foreigner with GOOD TALENT to run our country.
hmmm….. GOOD FOREIGN TALENT and GOOD PALNNING FOR THE SINGAPORE PEOPLE and to acheive more greatnest for the Singapore People and NOT to PAY < PAY < PAY MORE MORE and squeeze every blood of our hard earn money to the GOVT.
The NEW GOVT will,,,,,,,,
Cut our GST from 7% to 3%
HAVE ERP with CBD AREA and not out of CBD
NO ERP when going home… why should we be punish to go home after work??
Help the needy with social income and welfare
Help Singaporean GET back their jobs from Middle – Top Management level
Help Singaporean ABLE TO OWN A FLAT with a ACTUAL VALUE of the flat cost….NOT with the present ridiculous price ( transparency of the cost of land, cost of development
Low cost of hospital bill
and many more which i am sure you know wht i meant…
WhO shall we vote for??? is your choice???

screw!make it 100,001 foreigners needed here!
that 100,001th guy is Lee Hsien Loong himself.
get that Arroyo to chaperon her people here as she is retired and I am sure, she would take on the PM job for less than half the pay.
that way,we save some money and stop the bullshitting agony.

“Nearly a thousand comments are posted on Yahoo News so far with the majority of them against PM Lee’s initiative to bring in more foreign workers”
Is this a lot? Some can be repetition from the same guy.
Hypo: Singapore population 4 million 1/4 children, balance 3 million, 30% no internet, balance 2.1 million, 1 in 50 read yahoo news 42k, only 1 in 10 comments, 4.2k. Without deducting repetition, 1k over 4.2k = 24%… just wondering…

Born, bred, served NS true blue Singaporeans. If our children don’t or missed out serving NS we pat a heavy penalty. The FT comes here and take our jobs and buy HDB houses meant for Singaporeans and make us fools. Yet the PAP verifies that we are not up to it. Please check on the comments. Are we going to take blows after blows and

Yo LHL i dedicate the below song to you : )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfrIipujxfQ&feature=related
Why?…because at your age you still need daddy to baby sit you…what the fish…please look down…yeah down there…can you see it…it is called a dick by golly…and you are suppose to be a man…a real man dammit!!!…and you are not wearing diapers anymore for cotton picking sakes…
Come on bro…you can do it…bring it on you can handle it…show the world you are a REAL gawddamn Prime Minister with real leadership material and not the other type of leedership suck up material…and no longer some kid with strings tied to so many old men you have to bend over or get wussle over…you still have self respect and real intelligence…prove it to the old man and his bunch of still in diaper buddies.
Just be yourself and also leave a positive legacy before you go…and finally, please live your own life for yourself instead of being a thumb or a department store dummy or still a kid in diapers at the behest of others who don’t deserve or never had the right of it to dictate to you at your age and this new 21st century.=
Believe in yourself…you don’t need crutches anymore or some BS folks who “support” you but all of us know actually don’t when the sakes are all on the table.
Chioooonnnnnngggggg arrrhhhhhhhh.

If there is an overheating, then it is caused by PAP government. The government should develop the economy according to the country resource and if they need such large number of foreign workers to prevent overheating, this imply that they have planned the economy correctly. Or does this also implies that IR is not required at all ??????

This foreign import policy will be their undoing. Changing the demographic landscape in such a short time and so dreastically is
akin to interfering catastrophically with nature. But alas, only time will tell – sorry Singapore. In years to come, the story of
Singapore will be a “must read” for serious students of what not to
do in Governments.

my collegue is a PR , he live in johore and drive here everyday,
he just bought a 3 storey house, costing less then 300,000 riggit
n he renovate another 100,000 ringgit. it a 5 mins frive from the malaysia check point. it not about the price as we cannot compare there and here but the facts is what i went there for house warming
he pulled aside and he told me.
Look at my house, why should i be a singapore citizen,
PR is good, our garman give them good discount, the recent rise in some charges that PR have to paid is a JOKE. He going to buy a HDB and ride on the profit at our expense. Why should he stay here, he dont even have to report to work if traffic jam or flood, he can work from his 3 story house.
IS THIS A GOOD POLICY PAP?
SHOULD I VOTE FOR YOU PAP? SHOULD MY SON SERVE THE PAP in the Army PAP.

My observation is :
by saying 100,000foreign workers coming to Singapore is having a BIG and massive impact on HDB property prices which translates into a wealth effects to HDB dwellers. The mass market is already hot and will be hoter gearing for the coming election. This is what the Government intends so that voters in the HDB estate (more than 75% of voters) will be happy and feel “richer”. They will stand to vote for the PAP. To put it nicely, PAP will come out with some propaganda that PAP can continue to bring wealth and increase in their assets. Do you want to risk in the hand of the opposition or freak election?
Singaporeans will definitely buy and bite this. The verdict an thundering overwhelming majority even surpasing all previous records of 66.6%(last year). The GRC, redrawing of boundaries, cooling time and more reports to discredit the opposition will be in the second or third gear for a perpentual win by the ruling party.

100,000 foreign workers and MBT today statement will definitely and inevitably drive up HDB property prices.
This is indeed what the PAP wants and the voters will bite.

Like father MM (Mau Mati) like son PM (Poondek Man), all they think of is how to fulfill their high salaries. He done it again LHL (Lee Honang Loot), bring in more PR and lets cha-cha together and forget about the stupid S’porean that have been so LOYAL to PAP (Panpat Aku Panas). They are paying the price for their decision in their VOTE. Please don’t forget to bring in more foreign Ladies too, so we don’t have to go to Batam for adventure. PAP all the wayyyyyy……….
