PAP MPs refuse to condemn YPAP leader Jack Lin Xinli’s callous remarks about Singaporeans

PAP MPs have blatantly refused to condemn YPAP leader from Joo Chiat branch and General Secretary of Joo Chiat Community Club Youth Executive Committee Jack Lin Xinli for his callous remarks about Singaporeans.

Mr Lin sparked a massive outroar among Singaporeans recently by describing them as “3rd class citizen” on the YPAP Facebook:

jackclass

[Source: YPAP Facebook]

Besides insulting Singaporeans, Mr Lin also made defamatory remarks on opposition MP Mr Chiam See Tong in the same exchange. He insinuated that Mr Chiam “bought” his ‘O’ levels from a degree mill, prompting one angry netizen to write a complaint letter about him to his MP Chan Soo Sen.

Mr Lin has since issued a public apology to Singaporeans, claiming that he has been “misinterpreted”. He has also emailed Mr Chiam See Tong to apologize to him.

When interviewed by the state media, PAP MPs were quick to distance themselves from Mr Lin’s remarks, claiming that they were made in his personal capacity.

Joo Chiat MP Chan Soon Sen claimed that the remarks are made in the personal capacity of Mr Lin and therefore they should not be associated with the YEC or YPAP never mind the fact that Mr Lin is an important appointment holder of both organizations.

YPAP Vice-Chairman Zaqy Mohamed said it could be “damaging” when people try to associate activists’ personal views as representing the party, so there would be steps taken to educate members, especially younger ones, about online engagement and what they should not do when defending their positions.

Tanjong Pagar MP Baey Yam Keng even has the cheek to implore Singaporeans to give YPAP members “space to grow and learn”

“I hope people will be able to give (younger members) space to grow and learn. The last thing we want is people who are scared to express their views,” he was quoted as saying in TODAY.

As expected, YPAP Chairman Teo Ser Luck is nowhere to be seen, heard or found.

Do the PAP MPs agree or disagree with Mr Lin’s statement that Singaporeans are “3rd class citizens”?

Their continued silence can only mean that they agree, endorse and support Mr Lin’s views. The reluctance of PAP MPs to discipline their younger leaders is sending an erroneous message to them that they are free to insult Singaporeans in cyberspace with snobbish, elitist and callous remarks.

In March this year, another YPAP leader and new citizen from India, Mr Sinha Shekhar, who was ironically awarded an “Outstanding Contributor award” by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for his “regular” postings on REACH Facebook, caused a stir when he called Singapore NSmen “DOGS” on the YPAP Facebook.

[Source: YPAP Facebook]

Mr Sinha Shekhar who is currently the Head of Rehabilitation at Ang Mo Kio Community Hospital, did not serve a SINGLE day of NS. He later promised to “clarify” the matter in the media, but has not done so. No PAP MPs have reprimanded or condemned Mr Sinha for his disparaging, insulting and humiliating remarks yet.

Singaporeans are still waiting for a public apology from Mr Sinha Shekar, if ever.

  • so a person refuse comment mean TR can put words in their mouth?

No Angela, a person refuse comment against bullshit acts committed by their own members mean the organisation has no view on it, maybe they agree.

For example, if a coach working under National Sports Council makes degoratory comment against the public, the Council should be expected to condemn his comments. If they don’t it either means they are alright with his views or feel that they don’t care what people think.

Anyway “Angela”, you should probably do better to stop trolling here and instead get back to your work as a WP member (GE is coming you know).

How can PAPa ever condemned his own ?

From the scandalous events in 2006, even then the Pro Alien Party MP Wee Siew Kim would not chastise his pompous daughter – Wee Shu Min – for her online arrogant insensitivity and elitist critique that blasted Singaporeans.

Clearly, this kind of elitist attitude that hold ordinary Singaporean in contempt – runs in the veins of every individual in the Pro Alien Party that submit themselves to their Mentor.

It is their accepted Mentor that dictates the ideology of dominance – by demeaning and abbrogating the Rights of Ordinary Singaporean, so as to allow their Pro Alien Party to perpetuate their will that allow themselves to survive and get fat from the blood and sweat of ordinary Singaporeans.

Why should the arrogant elitists apologise for anything mistakes, as to do so will reveal a flaw in the self-acclaimed talent – that they is supposed to be their unique feature and reason to be in the leadership role ?

Same cannot be said of the kek leng kia FT, Sinha Siankarlan who is still acting as if he has done no wrong and refused to apologized and even brush it off by saying that his dogs remark had been taken out of context! How typical PAP style, its the fault of us lesser mortals who got it wrong, he didnt mean us as dogs perhaps? He is quoting a proverb that he had created and we lesser singaporeans do not understand lah!!!F him lah…knn

I remembered in the last general election when James Gomez commit something pretty trifle, it was blown out of proportion by you know who. Later on LTK was asked to comment on what Gomez did.

Now may I asked what is wrong with TR insinuating that the people in charge should comment?

In any political dictatorship, silence is admission of guilt. Does Hitler, Pol Pot. Kim Jong Ill, Fidel Castro, Idi Amin, Mussolini, Mao Tse Tong, and Joseph Stalin ever admit they were wrong even once? In democractic institution, they own up and resolve the wrong accordingly and responsibly.

Democracies work on political accountability. Dictatorship thrives and survives ONLY on oppression and concealment of all wrongs and all truths. Such is the political world. Denial of freedom of speech, all dictators know, is denial of all freedom. They imprison and kill you unlawfully and demand that, if you survive that long trauma, to keep silent of the oppression.

Mao, as an example of dictator, is COMPLETELY right. He said “Fishes live in dirty water”.

  • BULL SHIT:

I believe all these young PAP members, behaviours and speeches are endorsed by the PAP leaders. And it shows the actual behaviours of the PAP leaders. Theirs behaviours show that they are not suitable to be our future leaders and it also show the standard of PAP choosing their future leaders. They make mistakes and say that this is their learning process. If this is so, then everybody can be leaders and make mistakes over and over again. We should give opposition parties a chance to let them learn too.

What has happened to my country? Members of the party ruling PAP are behaving like they own this country entirely to themselves, doing things and saying things as if they are above the law.

When members from the youth wing of the ruling party posted his comments calling Singaporeans names on the YPAP facebook, which is officially a page created by the party, what they can come out with is just a “the remarks are made in the personal capacity”. Of course it is personal capacity but in the official forum of the PAP online portal.

What then will they say in this official forum will not constitute as ‘personal capacity’?

If there is no disciplinary measures taken, then I say our ministers are really without backbone. So what we are successful in bidding for the ‘for-show-only’ YOG? This bully mentality of the people in power must stop.

Lightning had already struck two iconic structures twice, enough warning to wake up and truly serve the people, particularly the poor and disadvantaged.

This is the true color of our leaders, this how they see us in close door sessions. This ‘Jackass’ got excited and used these derogatory terms(3rdclass) in public.
    ‘Mind your Language’
If this was any other nation, Jack Lin would have been turned to ‘Jacklyn’.

    @Citizen Mentor

The terms ‘first class’ and ‘third class’ were derived from ‘first world’ and ‘third world’.

‘First world’ and ‘third world’ used within Singapore’s context started appearing in the mainstream media not long after the publishing of a certain douchebag’s memoirs.

  • Much has been written and talked about in forums….as to what happens..when MM goes.
But someone..once close to the heart of the matter..tells it like it is.
I pass it along as a community service announcement and for a wider read.
    Here it is in full.
Make of it what you will.

You will not find this in the Straits Times. But no doubt it will be read by many there.
    Some even will quietly agree.
    ===============================

There are some who think things will get worse if MM goes,
and eventually when he is no longer there. Then,
there will be no one to crack the whip.
One can be sure, despite all his Act of God claims, he’s kicking ass over the floods. and
the rising prices of public housing. According to reports, Yaacob
sat behind him looking like a whipped puppy when he made the cryptic
statement that ” not enough had been done” on the flood issue.

One certainly wonders if there will be anyone to come up with the
ambitious ideas that LKY had/has. And if they do, is there anyone serious enough and tough enough
    to realise them.
Things like the cleaning up of kallang river, and the
building of marina barrage, whether or not it works, could never be
carried out by a “namby pamby” lot now.

He has caused the problems now and is also part of the problem.
He has stamped out potential leaders, in all areas; insisted on total
    obedience and promoted materialism.
If he had retired, he could have been there to really advice those who took charge, instead of
having to go in to bat for them. It’s ridiculous that these guys are hiding
behind him and being so dependent on an 86-yr-old man.
But their poor calibre is the result of his policies.
There is also no one (brave enough) to rein him in, like
his old colleagues would have done in the early days.
They would have shot down this latest mad plan to have an intellectual
class, and talked him out of allowing so many foreigners into the country in such a short time.

He’s had an intellectual class all along. It’s not working. This lot go by the
rules and the numbers, completely forgetting they’ are not dealing with
robots. The social aspects of things are not factored in. And they dont know
what to do when things dont work out. Their minds are not flexible and
he wants still more of such crap?!

One can foresee bigger problems — Indonesia will cut back on gas sales.
There IS going to be a screwup on water. How much does it cost to
produce now next to mahathir’s 40 cents dd? Has anyone even asked?
Were there re-negotiations after mahathir left? One johor contract ends
in 2012. It does not look it will be renewed.

And how do you build homes underground in the future if there is already not
enough space for drains now? And for sure all his little new citizens are not
gonna just accept things like (us) the scared sheep do now….in 10 yrs time.
They’ll be screaming about having more foreigners.
Why is nothing being done about using our many islands — for homes, to grow food? They could
have food factories e.g highrise vegetable, rice growing units, on them.

Basically, some could even say he’s been a damned bad parent. He has not let his child go and
learn on its own, make its own mistakes.
One can sometimes feel quite sorry for him.
    MM, that is.
For sure, he’s disappointed with how things are turning out, but no one
dares tell him it’s his fault, and being a stubborn egoist, he’s not going
    admit it.
    Not even to himself!
For all that he has achieved and done..and to be fair..he has achieved a lot… some might also believe ,despite his years, he still hasn’t learnt……….

It clearly shows to all of us the way this PAP is run. they get some junior member to say what they themselves are afraid to say and then pretend that nothing has happened or was said.

Poor fellow does not realise he is the fall guy. Whatever lets all not harp on this anymore. Lets all remember this and not forget and come the next election lets remember this and other incidents done and endorsed by the PAP and lets show them all altho’ we may be 3rd class citizens we still have the power to vote and we will vote you out.

To loose just 1 GRC will mean a lot to the PAP cos they will loose not only the GRC but also probably a few ministers. Thats why they are so afraid to loose Aljuined GRC and thats why they have started campaigning there already and huge write up in newspapers recently.

They fear us and they know that we can make a change so lets all wait patiently for the day of reckoning. We will show that true people power like they have never seen before! Vote for change. Vote for a better change. Vote for the people by the people for the people. This is something the PAP has forgotten. We the people matter!
