Less than 1 month in “growth bonus” for civil servants, but hefty bonus for PAP ministers

Author: Singapore’s civil servants will be getting a “growth bonus” which is pegged to the country’s GDP performance.
Though PAP ministers will be expecting a hefty 10 percent or more bonus at the end of the year, civil servants are given at most 0.8 month in their “growth bonus”.
PAP MP Halimah Yacob who is currently involved in working out the exact quantum, said she hopes the bonus would be a “reasonable” amount.
“I hope that they will not be disappointed and that there will be a growth bonus given to our public sector employees who have also worked together with employees in the private sector to contribute to help us out of the recession,” she was quoted as saying in Channel News Asia.
The miserly bonus is unlikely to be of much use to public sector employees who have to cope with rampant inflation brought forth by Singapore’s economic rebound.
While Singapore’s economy has performed strongly this year due largely to the global recovery, the median wages of the average Singapore worker remains stagnant at $2,400 monthly.
In the meantime, the over-paid PAP ministers will be laughing their way to the bank when they receive their bonus for 2010.

I am sure the govt will be open and transparent about how much bonus the ministers will be getting. I think they should believe that they deserve it.

Token income redistribution gimmicks or “little sweets” handout reminders to “POLITICALLY CORRECT” kids of the usual pork barrel politics before ERECTION? They ordered teachers NOT to blog teaching or learning issues on the internet OR ELSE!. I am sure it is the same for all other civil servant to keep the stiff upper lips after so much screw-ups well discussed in cyberspace.
So, there got to be some “obedience reward” for Pavlovian conditioning of forbearance.
Have we not seen all these before? Why not after the ERECTION especially when the economy might fall over as PM also warned of on ND message to see if this nation really got spare cash to let?

And PAP will hint that if ministry & stat board staff do not vote for PAP, their bonuses will be affected.

You know this reminds me of the Lucy and Charlie Brown character right out of “Peanuts” comics, every year Lucy comes around with this football which she wants CB to kick, and EVERY TIME the poor sod falls for her pitch (her wide eyed innocent “who me?” look she puts on) to believe she will hold the ball on the grass for him to punt. Guess what (of cos no prizes for the obvious outcome), he takes a running start, aims a hard kick at the ball and tharrrr he goes spinning into a hard landing on his rump as she snatches away the ball at the last moment…. never learns! PAP has reached a new level of filth. Do Singaporeans really believe they care if now we have to cut down from 3 meals to 2 because of inflation? Not just PAP is not affected by inflation or cost of living, they constantly adjust the goal post to benefit from our misery and asjust their own pay to negate the problems they’ve caused.
The most ridiculous thing is to peg their pay to GDP. They should peg their pay to our pay instead. PAP is nothing but a bunch of money grabbing Nigerian scammers.
I would rather invest in Sunshine Empire than in PAP- at least the former could be brought to justice.

The 0.8% is not even enough for the civil servants to pay the increase in SP services, petrol, MRT/Bus fare hike, food and clothing increases in price, etc.

I think the government ministers are enriching themselves in million of dollars, civil servants are given the peanuts because the general election is coming soon, and the 1.8-million new citizens who are working here are siphoning out a huge sum of money out into their own countries, plus the high expensive of YOG, and the taxpayers’money is used to integrate the new foreigners.
How about those native Singaporeans who are jobless and displaced by the foreign talents? Such is a red dot on the map with the overwhelmingly of the new citizens, PR and foreign workers that our economy is not able to sustain long. It seems that the present situation is getting worst.

It is so ironic to think that guys like Lim Sia Suay keep telling singaporeans they must be cheap and fast and betterer and then keep upping their already sky=high salaries of 2 to 3 million sing dollars plus benefits plus pensions.

There are signs that RMB will not increase in value, BUT
will decrease in value in at least many folds.
Those who believe the hype of 18% economy increase, be ready when a -300% contraction is here. 2010 is a dangerous year. It may come very very soon. Many US companies made their round and are preparing for at least 1-2 years of hunkering down again.
Maybe the PAP ministers are reaping their last round of bonuses, and get ready to flee. By then, locals, new immigrants, PRC, Indians, Pinors, all will cry together.

Actually I feel that 0.8 months GDP bonus for civil servants is a lot ! Because this is given on top of their usual 2 to 3 months’ bonus. Many private sector workers dont even get 1 month’s bonus. Civil servants get any GDP bonus at all !
As for GDP bonus for ministers, it is utterly despicable !

Leaders by right should serve the nation with lots and lots of passion, straight from the heart. Pegging their own salaries and bonuses to GDP, reduces both their status and love for the country, to that of mere salesmen collecting commissions based on percentage of $ales transacted. No matter what there is nothing we can do in toppling the PAP . The power with them and genuinely you bring up matters that is not justifiable they will just brush you aside and the Ministers in office will never help in any manner. Now the PM is bring hundred thousand workers and with their family members the numbers will be around 200,000 to 300,000 and these guys will be given citizenship and what happens the PAP will win the election. They know well that the real Singaporeans are basically fed up and will pull them down so they are bring alot of new citizens and even peoples’ 70 per cent cpf monies is kept for ten years before the monies are paid to the CPF members and only earned a 4per cent interest per year. I dont understand why Singaporeans shut themselves in questioning the government why must the hard earned money by the CPF member is kept by the government for ten years with a annual interest of 4 per cent?Sheer rubbish. How can we fight these powerful PAP and during election they will do recount if they are not satisfied and eventually after the recount they will declare themselves as winners and how can they be beaten. Today in the army , you have RUSSIANS, BRITISH, JAPANESE , FILIPINOS and many more foreigners serving NS and during the war time all these guys will be deserters as they will run back to their country , sheer stupidity.
