YOG Condom Conundrum

Author: I am an undergraduate wannabe of NTU, staying at home for an extra month (an entire month!), waiting for my refugee status to be lifted and i watch in envy as my NUS comrades saunter into their school grounds, eager for their commencement of tertiary education.
And while i wait at home, YOG athletes, and trainers, occupy my school grounds, the halls, the hall that i’m allocated to, the room i’ve been allocated to, sleeping on the same bed as i would be, sleeping (with the condoms; hey, safe sex, it’s important) on the same bed as i would be.
This is a cause for concern. i must say i’m a tad bit, uneasy (apprehensive, bothered, choked,) with the notion of sleeping on a bed for four years, knowing that it might’ve been stained with foreign liquids. which is worst (you call the judge), foreign juice on my bed, or the fact that Youth Olympic Games athletes, Youths!, the leaders of tomorrow, the voice of the generation, members of society, younger than me but with the power of revolutionary change bestowed unto them, doin stuff on my bed, even before i’ve done mine on that bed (well call me conservative, but i think you buy, and use, condoms after marriage, or okay fine, after you turn 21). sports on the fields, not on my bed.
In all honesty, i’ma rather proud of the YOG, or at least the romanticised version of it. it’s after all an Olympic games subset of olympic status. to be a country hosting such grandiose events, is an achievement worth quite a bit of achievement points. but the way it was handled, fine, got on some people’s nerves, but the way the people’s cries for attention, for love, were ignored by their motherland, who turned her affection to foreigners, is applaudable by demonic standards.
If my motherlands says, delay your studies for a month, kid athletes want to use your school grounds. by all means i say. contribute what little you have to the YOG my son, for it shall be another face of me, hmmm, okay, but how much are you spending on this again, it’s by the mils right? eh motherland, i think i saw some poor people by the stree- you wait at home my proud son, they’re gonna screw on your bed too. i’d gladly obe- wait what?
Well screw this, but don’t screw on my bed.

Dear Writer,
Then you should stay in Singapore education institutions, you should have seen the stains and juice I left on the beds of the halls of my university. I am aware of the no opposite sex in room rule and two persons rooms in Singapore. It is really bad overseas as there is no rules about who or what you do in your rooms.

Teen sex not always bad
LOS ANGELES – THERE’S good news for parents who worry that their teenagers’ sex lives are affecting their school performance: A provocative new study has found that teens in committed relationships do no better or worse in school than those who don’t have sex.
The same isn’t true for teens who ‘hook up.’ Researchers found that those who have casual flings get lower grades and have more school-related problems compared with those who abstain.
The findings, presented on Sunday at a meeting of the American Sociological Association in Atlanta, challenge to some extent assumptions that sexually active teens tend to do poorer in school.
It’s not so much whether a teen has sex that determines academic success, the researchers say, but the type of sexual relationship they’re engaged in. Teens in serious relationships may find social and emotional support in their sex partners, reducing their anxiety and stress levels in life and in school.
‘This should give some comfort to parents who may be concerned that their teenage son or daughter is dating,’ said sociologist Peggy Giordano of Bowling Green State University, who had no role in the research. Teen sex is ‘not going to derail their educational trajectories,’ she said. Last year, nearly half of high school students reported having sexual intercourse, and 14 per cent have had four or more partners, according to a federal survey released this summer.
For the study, University of California, Davis sociologist Bill McCarthy and University of Minnesota sociologist Eric Grodsky analysed surveys and school transcripts from the largest national follow-up study of teens that began during the 1994-95 academic year. The researchers said not much has changed in terms of when teens first have sex or attitudes toward teen sex in the past decade. — AP”

I find this letter quite childish in one respect: They can do whatever on that bed because the sheets will be changed on a daily basis.
I know this for a fact, because someone close to me works at the NTU YOV and they tidy up to 180 rooms a day.
Don’t worry, your beds will be squeaky clean by the time you settle into NTU. Besides, if any babies are made during the YOG, at least they can have a proud stamp saying “Made in Singapore”.
Please do get your facts right before commenting. It is your right to speak your mind, but it is not your right to slander (or at least say untrue things – no matter how small). It will come in handy for your FYP. (I’m an NTU alumnus too.)

The Citizen’s Will,
NTU hostel is not your house. When we rent rooms outside, we have to be flexible and close 1 eye to the room condition. I used to stay in uni hostel for 3 years.
If you are so intolerant about the hostel bed, go buy a new bed and put it at your NTU room lor. Noone is stopping you!
You are better off staying at home seriously.

Giving condoms to the young will tempt them, bring their guts to higher levels to do it real. The YOG should not promote promiscuity within the athletes. Imagine what their parents will say when their children tell them they had their first and many times because of the YOG in Singapore. So, if the 12 to 16 year olds do it…and in Singapore….. They should be warned before entering Singapore that it is an offence. And if you give the condoms out, you allow them to do so in Singapore. These foreigners who are young may appear more matured than we think. Can the Singaporeans and PRs now do it below the age of 16 since the foreigners can? When such news spread around the globe, esp under the YOG banner….phaedophiles will come to Singapore, thinking having sex with our young is allowed….
