Recommendations for building a sustainable Singapore did not include reducing mass immigration
According to recommendations made in a report prepared by a focus group on building a sustainable Singapore for the next 50 years, Singapore should reduce fares for public transport and lengthen the operating hours for buses and trains with the emphasis on public transport, green energy and heritage.
There was no mention of reducing the high inflow of foreigners which is the most important concern of many Singaporeans right now.
Due to the PAP’s pro-foreigner and ultra-liberal immigration policies, foreigners now make up 36 percent of Singapore’s population, up from 14 percent in 1990. Of the remaining 64 percent who are citizens, an increasing number are born overseas.
There are increasing complaints from Singaporeans about the newcomers ranging from packed trains and buses, competition for jobs and strange social behaviors.
According to a recent Wall Street Journal editorial, the relentless influx of foreigners into Singapore has depressed the wages of ordinary Singaporeans, increased the cost of living, especially that of public housing and led to an overall decline in the standards of living.
Despite the rising unhappiness, disgruntlement and anger among Singaporeans at the PAP’s immigration policies, the PAP regime continues to insist that immigration is essential for Singapore.
During the recent National Day Rally, PM Lee said he “understands” the concerns of Singaporeans and urged them to welcome the immigrants with an “open heart”.
With Singapore already having one of the highest human density in the world, the continued inflow of foreigners will stretch limited public resources to its limits and is unsustainable in the long run.
Unfortunately, it appears that the focus group is quite divorced from the sentiments on the ground and choose to go through a meaningless academic exercise to please its political masters.

Yes, talk about being ‘green’, go to Jurong West Central and breathe in the air, see if the quality feels different from that in Lim Chu Kang? And while you’re in Jurong, try looking around and what do you have? Lots of people, many foreign workers, a jam-packed shopping centre, isn’t it over-crowding? And then, look around and you might find housing agents trying to ask you if u want to buy houses – a 5 room flat in Jurong, cheap cheap only they say. How much? 450k. Sustainable Singapore?

Do we see any leaders among the FRIST WORLD coutries getting paid more and more when their citizens are being made to get “less and less” in all sense of the word?
We are asked to be “cheaper”,maybe “cheaperer” by lim sia suay, who is the world’s best paid unionist.
But,at the same time, our common workers are being made to pay more for suposedly low-cost housing by another clownish minstrel,Malboro.
Even TRANSPORT minister Raymond lim comes out with more ERPs after Malboro had exhausted all the possibile entry points and now even have ‘DISTANCE’(?) RELATED fares.
Worse still, seemingly compassionate buddhist, khaw, wants more money put into medisave so that the common citizens can give those savings to the health ministry!
And all these cost increases done concurrently with the MANPOWER MINSITRY getting MORE FOREIGNERS TO REPLACE THE SINGAPOREANS AT THE SAME TIME!
WHAT ON EARTH IS HAPPENNING HERE?
no wonder we are having so many ‘FLASH FLOODS’ in once ‘SUNNY’ SINGAPORE.
even are wallets and bank passbooks and cpf savings all get washed away in this GREAT DELUGE,ALL AT ONCE!

During the colonial days under the British, the native inhabitants were rather rude not to stand at the quayside and welcome my forefathers, I would not make the same mistake twice.
That was just tongue in cheek, now that I get it over. I must said that immigration policy is really unrealistic – instead of a manageable trickle, it is now a deluge. The influx is such that I am now witnessing a livelier chinatown and happier old uncles (except old uncle without CPF). Okay, still tongue in cheek…
My colleagues are complaining incessantly that the trains are getting increasingly crowded and with an unsympathetic governess at the helm of the mass transit oligopoly, solutions are not forthcoming.
My filipino friends are complaining of stallholders in Chinatown who cannot speak English (check out the irony – how dare you a filipino, a foreigner complain about my country…oh, it is about another foreigner)
A female friend who once has a healthy dislike of Malaysian girls are now targetting her hatred on Chinese girls because they are responsible for depressing the number of eligible mates.
I sat next to this old auntie and she complained loudly that anyone with less than 5 generation history is not a “real” Singaporean, whoah. Older aunties are especially threatended I guess.
My friend and I used to complain about Malaysians not needing to go through National Service whilst we have to serve but now the complaints are about the Chinese.
20 years in HR and I noticed that the wages are stagnant, at one stage it was skyrocketing but when immigration policy become more liberal, the wage stagnates.
Foreigners come into this country and uses it as a stepping stone to a rosier future in US, Canada, Australia…etc. Oh, I am so jealous at their fluidity.
Oh, for heaven’s sake, stop whining, vote for the opposition by all means, I know I do but don’t blame it on the immigrants. Gosh, I am saving up and hoping to immigrate myself and the last thing I want is my next place of landing to blame me for all the ills of society.
Immigrants are necessary, otherwise the Chinese here would be a minority in less than 5 years, not that it is a bad thing, it would be nice if Singapore is an international city. But I wish the government immigration policy is more selective. The majority of the people I spoke to are unhappy about the immigration policy, we tend to be selfish in that respect, we want them to come over as slave-labourers but to partake the fruits of our labour as an equal, no way Jose. The sentiment of the ground is not logical but emotional – can immigration be good for me? Are they entering our country as second class citizens, if not, why not? They are taking away my jobs, they are taking away my spot in university…
The lesson here is no one like a newbie. You have to introduce a newbie slowly into this tiny fishbowl of a country – immigration policy with orientation, with manageable number and with both empathy and sympathy for the locals.

This 36% of the new citizens is used to dilute the votes against the political oppostion parties, and at the same time, they take away our good jobs that our locals wanted. A idiot who says it is good for our country in the long term is bluffing alot so much that our country is now the mess. I am still fearful about the 66.6% of the last PAP voters who put this PAP Government into the power may do it again on this coming general election. If this is the way to go, no time, our natives will become a minority race where the India indians, China Chinese, Pinos, Myammars, caucasians, etcs, will take it over. Then, this will become a “Rojak” country. Stupid PM, do you know that our neigbouring countries are quietly laughing at your silly policy.
By increasing our population from about 3-million to 5-million people, you are practising modern slavery because of your greed of money and power. Learn that our PM who is on million dollars paycheck per year wants to import another 100,000 immigrants into this little red dot of the world map. To Sinkaporeans, what you have to say about this that may effect your livelihood?
On the activities of our daily living, the cost of living is very high now, and our purchasing power is shrinking alot during the last 2- to 3-years. Roughly, all things and food increase about 30 per cent while our salary is stagnant.

can anybody objectively prove that
the current immigration will be rather than NOT to Singapore’s future
you mentioned that more and more singaporeans are giving birth in other countries
in the years to come, without immigration policy, who will sustain tax revenue when we become geriatric
lets not get emotional about these issue
on the other hand, USA and Australia are tightening up their immigration policies
I do understand (not sure if it is true or not) read in the net, the Goh CHok Tong’s daughter and her family are making UK their home.

we really act like spoilt brats
if things dont go well we complain and complain regardless
let me put it into perspective
it is we who created this problem in the first place (66.6%)
speaking from one chicken to another, if anyone is so strongly opininated
why is it not there are not many good oppositions around
simple analysis, the brainy ones ended in the ruling party
so whinners and losers
please stop using your fingers and start doing something about it if you feel so strongly about
for crying out loud, TR is becoming a place where sick whinners gather
unfortunately unless we transform from chickens ….
TR will get even popular and will be become more so during and immediately after the coming election

Professionals play important role to sustainable economic growth. However, we have opened the floodgate to many unqualified professionals from third-world countries who attained unknown (some fake) degrees from unknown universities/colleges. They come here drive down our productivity and quality of products and services. Its time our government set up body to look into the problems. If these foreign professionals from third-world countries cannot perform, we should look for alternatives like eastern Europe.

Eh fellow Singaporeans,
Enough is enough lah!Dun just whine and offer no solutions like what our leaders say.
Let’s get our act together and support our leaders in building a sustainable Singapore… How many times must we highlight that what they did is good for the long term?
This type of petty politics will kill us in no time. Singapore has come to where it is today because of the strong enforcement efforts of our law agencies and the peaceful business environment. This you cannot deny. If we will to adopt western style democracy, we will not be where we are today. Cowboys cannot be allowed to run free in Singapore please.
Be very careful in our actions and words. Dun jeopardize our future.

AMK GRC Voters must vote the PM “out” in next election and everything will automatically fall in place.
Singaporeans want changes have to replace the very weak PM first. Once the PM is out of Parliament, PAP will have to select a new leader and changes will follow soon after.
As Voters in AMK GRC, you also should replace LBH the table tennis trouble maker out too. She has to be out of AMK.
Let us do it altogther.

Well said! But I believe in having no borders. Yes, I’m talking the big picture. We are people of the land. We should be able to move and live wherever we want to without having to battle immigration laws and become puppets of the power play and war for economic supremacy by the rich and powerful elite of this and other countries alike.
It will be a long process, but if we start rallying now, we will get there. This system is going to see international collapse. Are you going to curl up in fear or will you get up and make a stand?
While we can’t all take up arms and storm the parliament, we do what we can and vote the opposition. Whoever that may be. Send PAP a strong message. Tell them that the people are no longer happy and we want change!

To all netizens, I am just speaking out from my heart about the true facts which are happening and how I feel now. I do abit of my service to share whatever the knowledges that I have according to my capacity to our true blue Singaporeans so that they are aware of what is happening here. As you know that our MM, the old fart, aged 87-years old who look down on his own people had once said that we are stupid, ignorant and lesser mortals. Why should I whine and brat like a child? May as well I sit at home to shake legs and do some other things else. Our stupid PM says that he does this thing for the good of our country in the long term. May I want to know, what future are you talking about? In fact, there is no future at all except that we live in the present. He is still living in his dreamland, Shit. In my conclusion, I want my country to be peaceful and progress gradually instead, all of the sudden, in one go.

@ New Singaporean,
“Enough is enough lah!Dun just whine and offer no solutions like what our leaders say.”
Whining is a form of solution. It is saying “stop whatever the hell you are doing because we don’t like it”. Same as what you are doing right now. You can’t stand our whining. That is why you came in here and whined about our whining. You are telling us to stop whatever we are doing. So if you can do it, why can’t we do it? Explain why your whining is more valid than ours.
“Let’s get our act together and support our leaders in building a sustainable Singapore… How many times must we highlight that what they did is good for the long term?”
You are getting it all wrong. We support Singapore not the PAP. There is a difference. You can’t prove what they are doing now is good for the long term unless you can time travel. Prove it then we talk.
“Singapore has come to where it is today because of the strong enforcement efforts of our law agencies and the peaceful business environment. This you cannot deny.”
Yes I deny that. I believe Singapore got where we are because everyone contributed. We all deserve credit and so we all have the right to say how we feel.
“If we will to adopt western style democracy, we will not be where we are today. Cowboys cannot be allowed to run free in Singapore please.”
First, what the hell is western style democracy? Who defines that as having cowboys running around? Comedic statement. Also, what is wrong with cowboys? I like cowboys and I like their hats.
“Be very careful in our actions and words. Dun jeopardize our future.”
Yes, be very careful. One more term of allowing the PAP the majority to change the constitution anytime they want will be really fun for everyone who can’t get out of the hell hole in time. Your CPF funds have all been used to buy MOF bonds and MOF can’t pay out because of the losses by Temasek. That is why our CPF cannot be taken out anymore…
Good luck new Singaporean. If you have any sense, you will see how PAP treats its own citizens and realize that you will fare no better under them. It is just a matter of time when your turn will come and you will be here complaining.

I agree. Let’s stop whining. Each person has one vote. Use it to vote out the PAP.
Send a message to them, that there will be no more walk-overs. History is rife with examples of what happens when the People are not happy with the government. (Remember the Russian Revolution? It can happen here too…)

You have NOT think beyond the superficial. If GCT daughter is making UK her home, there must be good reasons known to them.
If we had the number of foreigners coming in to 6.5 million or more, I said it is the end of Singapore – NOTHING EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS ASSERTION.
Unground living, transport system and nuclear power supply – one natural disaster or one mistake with nuclear power station, everyone here is dead. MM Lee said as much of the risk of nuclear power.
WHO IS EMOTIONAL AND WHO IS RATIONAL HERE – talking about geriatic and tax revenue?? The loss of revenue base is the fault of bad economic management for 45 years. Screw them in this coming election, get them out, I say for the good of Singapore. Hopeless bunch of eoconomic manager yet claimed experts – full of rubbish.
If they are good, how come we stuck at this economic cross-road to no future?

Talk about objectivity on mass migration? To support that population, we need underground living, transportation and nuclear power station.
TELL ME WHERE IN THE WORLD HAVE COUNTRIES SITED THEIR NUCLEAR POWER STATION IN HIGH DENSITY LIVING CLUSTERS like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Chongging, Tianjin, New York, London, Sydney, Cairo, Paris,Rio De Janiero etc etc the way the Governrment intends for Singapore.
You want your children to die of radiation like Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I won’t live that long to see through the end of Singapore, so it does NOT matter to me but I care for the next generation and generations to come.
YOU DECIDE YOUR OWN AND YOUR CHILDREN’ GRAVEYARD, Picknose.

Well singaporeans,
I read some articles about daily life in Singapore nowadays .
I am Indonesian, had been living in Singapore for 2 years on 2002-2004. I was being employed by one of Temasek holding in Telco business. I admitted during that time, even for Young Singaporean to work on that company was in tough condition. Because they must fought with old collegues to stay on.
Even to get local in compaly training is beyond to reach from Young collegues , since seniors took the opportunity first. I was lucky since on previous company in Indonesia had provided me a lot overseas training.
I was lucky that they had not renew my contract. Then no point for me to take Singapore PR. I manage to work on different countries from Middle east , africa , Russia even on border between europe and asia region(Ural) then now in latin america region.
The point is You guys must open Your perspective because now the world is globalized. The investors just look the smartest, cheapest, better quality, they don’t care about the country condition and situation. Look see the US and europe now.
Singapore is like Japan now. Unproductive country waiting to depress. I met several Young japaneses while worked in Africa. And I worked together with some Aussies on the project as well.
They never think that they will work on that region . But on this global economy situation , anything possible.
All the situation start because of PRC. Since on 1990 era they devalued 300% yuan currency to Dollar, so all global investor has been coming to China , to make cheaper products there. Now the impact back to the masters in US and europe.

First hor we must differentiate between 1)social visitors hookers 2)high earners white collars workers 3)blue collars workers 4)low end workers
We often mistaken hookers are immigrants most are here to make a quick buck then go home. Seriously, your daughters, nice, aunties are not interested in becoming a hooker
High earner white collars, they bring in profits & job creation. So I think to a certain extend they should be welcome
*Blue collars workers or semi-professional workers, these is where I disgreed strongly with Govt. (they should not eye on this market, cutting corners also have a limit!!!)
Low end workers, these types of dirty, hot, long hours, low paid, long distance jobs, no benefits, no career prospect, I don’t think Singaporean are that interested
But hor, to build a city with low fares, green city, lengthen hours of bus service, lengthen MRT service. Doom to failure lah. It is just like Bill Clinton failed on Road Map To Peace, somehow Hillary can??? We had seen this moive before, what is on the table. East Jerusalem, Refugees, Settlements these are the issues. They methods as usual is Baby Steps, by the 2nd Phase someone either Abbas or Netanyahu will pull out the talks AGAIN, influnced by some events like suicidal bombing, fire rockets another occupation lead by provoked anger of expansion of outpost during these talks.
If Singapore can successfully, build a Mega-City without city stress of working life, then the whole world will emulate us. Our Govt. must be day dreaming AGAIN

Squeezing 5 million people onto a tiny island is, ipso facto, not sustainable.
There’s a limit to how much land you can reclaim.
There’s a limit to how tall buildings can go.
There’s a limit to how deep underground malls/train stations/residences can go.
There’s a limit to the number of vehicles on the roads.
There’s a limit to how much new flat apartments can shrink in size.
There’s a limit to how many foreigners you can mass import to more than make up for a declining birth rate.
There’s a limit to Singaporean’s patience to being treated like sardines and expendable economic digits, cogs in a wheel.
Limits. Know your limits. Acceptance of one’s limits is the first step to wisdom. PAP, your foolish avarice will be your own undoing.
