Poor customer service of YOG volunteers
Thank you for hearing out but there are more than a few things that brings to upset the minds of Singaporeans seeing YOG is supposed to put Singapore in the limelight. However, it seems it is doing quite the opposite and any limelight was for the wrong reasons.
Besides those that have been mentioned in the petition, there are other issues to be addresssed. For instance initially there were supposed to be 2 sets of uniform (1 shirt + 1 uniform shirt) given to all YOG volunteers however, they were only given 1 shirt and 1 pair of khakis to do their duties.
A 50% voucher was given to buy own set of khakis at giordano. How do you expect the volunteers to do their duty daily with only 1 set of uniform?
Also, I will like to highlight the customer service standard of the volunteers who are just plain rude to singaporeans but are polite to “ang mohs”. With no smile or acknowledgment of our presence, they simply just put us down by saying “yes? what you want?”. Are they really volunteers?
The only polite volunteers I have met are those who are from foreign countries. It is clear that YOG should have carried out customer service courses to all YOG volunteers. Even if there was a course conducted, it was not executed well because the volunteers did not deliver and did not make their own Singaporeans feel welcome to the Games.
Another enquiry is why are there so many volunteers just standing around doing nothing everywhere? It looks more like a waste of resource and more of trying to claim free labour hours for community service. Is this why there is a lack of uniforms, food and water for volunteers and athletes?
Will this incur more cost and ballooned the budget for YOG even more? It does not matter that Singapore was only given two and half years to prepare for the YOG and that is why there is more than one mishaps, accidents, unfortunate events or whichever way you would prefer to call it because clearly, no one will own up to their mistake because the vendor will surely have to pay fines for their grave mistake or even worse not to be paid for not delivering service as accordance to the contract. That is why the investigation is taking so long.
Singaporeans would say “kiasee” which means they are scared to die or metaphorically meaning scared to face the music. Were there anything else that was done well for YOG? Only the President of the Olympic Committee, Mr Jacques Rogge, gave credit to the volunteers, who include students I hope, for supporting the Games during the Opening Ceremony of the Youth Olympic Games on 14 Aug 2010. Only he bothered to thank Singapore upfront before the Games. Will he still thank us after Games? Yes he still will for formality sake. Our own Singaporeans thanking us? I do not think so. Not after all that have happened. So why not just apologize to us, Singaporeans, dear Minister.

PR Citizen, if I am not wrong, you are really not very happy with your situation in Singapore. You are really a very unhappy person for some one who claims to have a high paying job, having a high salary and a first class degree. You should be enjoying your good life and not waste your time commenting about Singapore on the site.
You are actually a guy who is really not happy to be in Singapore. You are venting your situation on the Singaporeans. I am afraid that won’t work. If you want to be in Canada, you have to make sure you have to gain good Karma because with the way you are ranting now, it shows that things are actually not looking up for you and you won’t be getting things the way you want. I think you should go re-look into your life and see how the way you behave with the Singaporeans you are working with. You actually don’t have many friends and you blame it on the fact that they are anti-foreigners. This is most unfortunate because whatever you do, things will always get back at you. You don’t have that many friends because you are not a nice chap to begin with. You have a chip on your shoulder. My advice to you is you should stop spewing nonsense and learn to be more empathetic towards people around you.

@PR Citizen
Damn you for spouting from your shitty mouth when nobody provoke you in the article.
If we are Singaporean dogs, at least we are the top-dogs. Any Singaporean out there is way better than you. You are nothing but a no-class running dog, and the only trick you know is to lick your new master where ever you go.
Don’t like being call a running dog? How about calling you that dirty maggot that was found in food. Shame on you feeding on the fruits of our hard labour and what’s worse, we have to throw away the fruits because of your contamination. Fortunately for most foreign countries, they have strict checkpoints and would not allow maggots to enter their countries.
If you have that peanut of a brain left to think that we should respect you as a human, then it is most fitting to call you a spineless beggar. You begged and offered yourself on the cheap so that you can come here, and after that let the top-dogs spit and pee on your dick head.
We Singaporeans sacrificed for our own country way beyond what you can imagine with your sicko self-centered mind. Can’t imagine? Because you have never encountered a fellow mate and a good student, hand blown by a grenade in a peace-time military accident. Any one of those people will be more than capable of taking bigger jobs than what you think you can do. What have you done for Singapore so far? And what have you done for the country you were born in? For you, when stripped of all that qualification …… are nothing but a running dog.
Note: The above comment is only for that person with the moniker ‘PR Citizen’. All my foreign friends I know working here and living here are very reasonable, friendly and kind people.

Singaporeans are refusing to admit defeat to PR and foreigners who are now their new substitute. It is sad to see our people degrading into second class citizens.
Isn’t it true that Singaporean only want to work for high pay and boast about their salaries instead of their ability in fulfilling their job scope. It is also a fact that the PAP stubbornly intends to bring in 100000 and many many more foreigners now and after the general election. You can be sure that there will be citizens cleansing and someday in the not too distant future Singaporean will be slave to the foreigners. The trend cannot be reversed because people is adamant and employers do not want to employ Singaporean whenever possible. Get to use to be despised, berated and insulted by foreigners, it is a form of training to get by in the future.
Fresh graduates are not able to find jobs in Singapore. The jobs are going to foreigners. Singapore graduates will be driving taxi or become insurance salesmen. Your governments desert you so don’t blame foreigners. Blame yourself, you have chosen this government. You have voted them. You condone to their ways. You loved PAP.

When `volunteers’ are forced to volunteer with no choice, how can you expect them to provide good customer service? In the first place, paid customer service staff in retail and F&B do not provide good service. What more can you expect from `volunteers’ who have been coerced by their schools, JCs and polytechnics to serve hours of free labour?

OMG!
@PR Citizen, you are really pathetic. From what I see a few times back, is that those ‘PR’s that came over would sell themselves lower than singaporeans to ’steal’ their job (not me), so please don’t say that singaporeans are dog that wags their tail upon seeing money. Secondly, what’s special about your first class degree, its not like you’re the only one with it, and from the look of your post, you don’t have that first class mind (more like a retard). People like you who can’t respect others, are the ones making the world a pathetic place. I wonder if your parents are like you and from my opinion, you don’t deserve to breed anywhere on this planet.
@Singaporean
PR Citizen is not a running dog, more like a running b**ch
and lastly
@CHINA PR NOS 1
SG doesn’t need you, maybe geylang need your girls, coz they are extremely affordable to the masses, and please look back at your china, and yourself before making any pathetic remarks like that other PR guy.

i can pretty assume the writer isn’t a volunteer.
“Besides those that have been mentioned in the petition, there are other issues to be addresssed. every volunteer is given 2 uniform and 1 pants. you are allowed to wear any pants as long as its color is similar to the uniform pants. long pants, short pants, 3/4 pants. my friends and I wore our own sets of pants to volunteer before. they don’t mind since they know that its impossible to have only 1 sets of pants to wear for consecutive 3 days.
how can you say that the only polite ones are foreigners. did you see all the volunteers before? i know some volunteers that are quite open and polite. chatting with atheletes while at the bus bays etc. so ya. please dont straight away assume that the only polite ones are foreigners (i dont deny the fact that they are polite).
cheers
p.s. im volunteering in YOG and today is my last day of duty
