Author: I was disgusted to read Temasek Review’s ‘Nigerian on S-pass charged for murder of Singapore woman in Bukit Panjang’. The title itself is abhorrent and reveals the TR, amongst others, for the fascist monkeys that they are. Apologies, but i don’t see any reason to afford non ad-hominem respect to fascists. In the UK, the general population are not disinclined to hurl rotten eggs and tomatoes at TR’s, amongst others, counterparts such as the NF or BNP. Don’t tell me that is the UK. Reason knows know borders mate.
What the fascist monkeys of the TR ought to do is to look into the percentage of foreigners whom commit crimes in comparison to locals. If one was to look into that, perhaps, one might find that the locals are more a cause for concern than ‘foreigners’. However, whilst stats on the foreigner vs. locals crime commission rates might not be available, the ‘oppositional’ side ought to steer clear of such associations as illustrated in the title lest they open themselves to allegations of hiding behind the absence of such stats in order to associate foreigners with crime. If you want to go on about how the government is giving jobs that locals can do to foreigners, that’s reasonable enough. But leave the ‘they are not integrating with us’, ‘they are running brothels’, ‘they are diluting our ’singaporean’ culture’ fascist rubbish out of it. I really don’t look kindly on the constant attempts by fascist cretins, TR or others,(like chua chin leng, amongst other bloggers whom vary in degree, but not stance) to demonise foreigners via association with crime, bad behaviour, etc. If the majority of foreigners, or the majority of one’s experiences with foreigners reveal tendencies, then yes, let’s discuss it. However, to pick a mere handful and demonise all foreigners via implication-via-association is unacceptable. TR, amongst others, deserve a smack for that, metaphorically speaking that is. Notice how ‘Nigerian’, ‘S-pass’ and ‘murder’ is linked in the title? One would expect such associations in press releases or comments by the BNP, but it is ridiculous that the allegedly democrats in the local arena consistently mirror the former via such ‘insights’ and oversights.
What’s most significant is that there are hardly any amongst the opposition whom take issue with this stance amongst some of the fascist cretins comprising the TR or TOC or other bloggers. And given the anti-immigrant stance of the opposition, and most importantly, their silence in the face of efforts to demonise foreigners, we can move on to say that they are part of the problem and undoubtedly led by fascist perspectives and leaders themselves – listen up Chee, Chiam, Gomez, Low, Ken J, amongst others. As i’ve always been inclined to say, the opposition’s fundamental perspectives ought to be evaluated, not only by their insights, which are few and far between, but by their oversights. Given the apathetic silence amongst them, this article cannot be alleged to be demonising most of the opposition. They are complicit in their silence.
The idiot who wrote the article for TR even ends of with,
“At the rate the ruling party is mass importing foreigners from elsewhere, Singaporeans may have to put up with newcomers from more “exotic” places like Nigeria and other African countries.”
In this statement, ‘Nigeria’, ‘African’, is termed as ‘exotic’ whilst this is presented with meaning taken from the rest of the article that associates them with crime. That is nothing short of racist and fascist. I suggest the fascist democrats in singapore take a look at singapore’s history and look into how the ‘exotic’ chinese were quite a problem with their syndicates, triad societies, gambling dens, extortion, violence, etc, before casting the proverbial. What we are facing with the foreigners of today is nothing compared the antics of quite a fair bit of their forefathers. Let’s dispense with the double-standards shall we.

@a2ed: In a word of fairness, TR does serve a democratic function to Singapore. It also contains good articles that provokes us to question the existing policies which may veer the country towards the wrong direction. The term “facist” may apply to only a portion of the racist and hate-fuelled readers here, but it is unfair to the other readers who are genuinely seeking positive change for the country and its inhabitants, foreign or local.
@nihon: As mentioned, it was a time when Singapore was not a country. Foreigners who enter Singapore were almost unregulated- border controls were poor and immigrants enter Singapore without background checks. The security measures, though imperfect, are still much stronger today than decades ago. Crime occurs for many reasons- some of them involve fulfilling primal needs (food, sex, companionship). As compared to decades ago, social services are stronger, and foreign workers’ rights are improved (which gave them incentive to remain working in Singapore and lead to citizens complaining about them).
@PAPsmear: By using the Straits Times as a reference, you already used a medium supported by the PAP. Think about this: why will crimes by locals be reported? Locals committing crimes can be politicized that “more citizens had turn to crime in recent years” because the government made life miserable- the exact situation that the PAP seeks to avoid. Indeed the “sense” of volumes is quite strong precisely because foreigner crimes are more sensational and they appeal to ideals of “foreign trash” that reasonates among some citizens. However, all these does not prove that the news is overall entirely accurate.

TR illuminate many aspects of Singapore that the PAP did not reveal conventionally, but this does not automatically imply that it is impartial and sound by itself. Don’t forget, TR is an entity made up of countless netizens- an article here may only reflect an interest group, not the general sentiment of netizens. When a foreigner talent issue is exaggerated to collectively convince the public of a rise of foreign criminals (without numbers to back it up), is it practicing its own form of propaganda then? Of course this is my impression looking thru The Straits Times and some have concerns about this particular source. Yes. Arrested suspect is a foreigner, Nigerian in this case. Suspect overstayed, TR correspondent found out that suspect was issued an S Pass, and had overstayed when the Pass expired.
Mr Edward, who describes himself as “atypically Singaporean”, finds the mention of the nationality of the suspect to be abhorrent, and therefore TR practises facism. How can this be, when anybody reading such an article would expect to be informed by the correspondents, be it ST, CNA or TR, to inform readers, of this foreigner’s nationality, when this is a murder case! It is correct for ST, CNA or TR, to state his nationality. If not in the title, it must be in the article. TR further informed readers, or reminded readers, of the 12 women involved in previous Nigerian drug cases. These cases were highlighted in the local press to warn our female citizens.
Profiling of the suspect is necessary, just as the profile of our young poor victims. Readers would expect to know the age, occupation, place and type of residence, modus operandi of the suspects. In this case, the suspect overstayed his S-pass, therefore not working, was arrested in Boon Lay, and readers were informed accordingly.
The correspondent further asserted that the suspect’s work in Singapore, based on the S-Pass granted, could “easily [be] taken up by Singaporeans”. Such expression of feelings by our local community towards the changing demographics in Singapore, and the flood of foreigners in Singapore should be respected. Feelings are expressed via articles and in websites such as TR, by both the correspondent, and readers-at-large. This case reminds me of the rape of a 12-year-old girl by US servicemen in 1995 in Okinawa, along with other crimes and accidents.
Would Mr Edward describe the Okinawa locals and press to be fascists, when they held huge protests against the American presence, and wanted the bases out of their Prefecture? Is it abnormal or wrong for locals to express unhappiness with crimes committed by foreigners, and expect accountability by the authorities over our homeland-security? Is it abnormal or wrong for locals to complain of solicitation occurring in HDB-heartland, in the guise of a karang guni in broad daylight. Is it abnormal or wrong for our locals to complain of newcomers whom locals feel that – “they are not integrating with us”. Are our Serangoon Gardens residents fascists when they expressed their unhappiness over housing foreign workers in their neighbourhood?
Mr Edward has stated that “even the expatriate communities here exist almost separately from the local communities despite the government’s best efforts to address this issue.”

Yes, communities do exist separately. We may meet and interact for work frequently, but we are socially distinct. However, while Mr Edward feels that his “hor fun” with different ingredients do not conflict with the traditional taste that he knew, other persons are entitled to comment on the change in taste they had known originally, through their frequent contacts and experiences with foreigners. That do not make them fascists?
It is noted that this piece of news appeared in Jan 2010, but Mr Edward is writing to TR now, and he further criticises TOC, TR, opposition leaders, bloggers, etc. It would be good for Mr Edward to show that he has “feedback” to our opposition leaders, and their relevant replies, before labelling our opposition leaders as “complicit” to fascism.
It is also noted that Mr Edward stated his full name in various articles submitted to TOC, but in his commentaries and replies to TR, he merely stated “Ed”, or in this case, “a2ed”.
Nonetheless, we should patiently await Mr Edward’s apology for his labelling of the correspondent an “idiot”, which is uncalled for, when the correspondent is doing his or her job to inform, make further commentaries, raise queries, and ultimately, to make the authorities more responsive and accountable.
Finally, our hearts should still go to the victim, and hopefully, there will be no more Nigerian murders, money remittance scams, credit card scams, drug mules, … Alas, if only more informed visits to alternate voices and sites are made, our lesser locals may not be so easily conned by the betterest FTs.

Fascists globally promote their fascist ideology along with addressing practical matters – go do a spot of global history mate. The latter does not mean that one is not guilty of the former. Rather, it disables one from taking issue with it, or makes one more receptive to it given that other issues that concerns oneself is still addressed. This is not an ‘opinion’ but a statement of fact on the basis of verified sociological, political and psychological realities.
The same problem is going on here in the UK with the fascist British National Party and their more violent offshoot, the English Defence League. Their perspectives are identical to that of TR. They have the same approach as TR toward foreigners and constantly ignore the fact that many Brits are a mix of ‘foreign’ stock themselves – including the monarchy. However, unlike TR, they get quite a bit of egg-pelting and criticism from the general public who do not care about their addressing ‘practical’ issues as well. They do not appreciate the practical concerns of a party if it is paired with fascist rubbish as well. You’ve got to be pretty self-absorbed to do so. That undermines democracy and refines fascism. In singapore, a site like this can actually become popular. What do you think that says about the people, and you. The sinocentric racist perspectives of the population in general, engendered by a host of cultural and political means, and into which the young have been socialised into, has moved on to xenophobia. If the former was not true, the latter wouldn’t, at least not in the singaporean context.
Given your definition of ‘democrat’ as implied in your statement, one could say that even Lee KY is a democrat given that whilst his party is authoritarian politically, they are pretty democratic in terms of allowing people to start up businesses, etc. But that would be a one-sided view of things wouldn’t it.
That said, its obvious that TR has published this article as they are well-aware that they can rely on the self-absorption of the majority, and the fascist supporters to defend them. You can do so with numbers mate, but not reason and logic.

You are a fucking idiot. If the general public do not care as you claim, then how did the BNP won 2 seats, not 1 but 2, in the European Parliament in 2009 by Andrew Brons and Nick Griffin? On top of that, they also got 1 seat in the London Assembly and 28 seats in various local governments. You think all TR readers are fools stucked on the little red dot right?
How did BNP win seats? That is because for UK Local Government elections, it is while similar to the GRC system, it is proportional representation instead of first past the post, and people care about what the BNP stands for, not that they do not care as you claimed.
Proportional representation is something that the PAPpies will never dare to adopt because they know they will not get 5/6 MPs in all the time. PAPpies stay in power by making the rules so that it almost impossible for others to compete. They ban things that are being said everyday, created the GRC system and stuck to the first past the post system.
Therefore you see, you think that you are in UK and you are smart? You are just bringing the PAPpies system and thinks it should apply in the UK on people/parties you don’t like. If you do not like them so much, then maybe you should fuck off back to Singapore where the PAPpies will ban them for you.
