The term “Foreign Talent” itself is rubbish!

The PAP government is unable to define what a real ‘foreign talent’ is. The term itself is rubbish. The top-tier ‘talent’ of any country, its crème de la crème will never leave their homeland for a place like Singapore. Those who leave for Singapore, be they long-term talents or transiting ones, hoping to use Singapore as a launch-pad to better countries, are merely using Singapore. What Singapore attracts, unfortunately, is ’sour curd’.

rubbish-bin-404_777855cAn Indian university-graduated I.T engineer, versus a NUS/NTU-graduated engineer, what is the difference in their productivity, competencies, and their abilities to get the job done? Clearly, a NUS/NTU graduate cannot be any less competent than his/her Indian counterpart. If PAP asserts that an Indian univ-grad is better than a local one, then, perhaps something has gone very wrong with Singapore Ministry of Education’s tertiary education policies and the rigors of the programmes offered at NUS/NTU. So, for whatever excuses the PAP use to justify the influx of ‘foreign talents’, it is all lame.

Do not forget, 40 years of social engineering, of curtailing and controlling of the local graduate population, has resulted in the current shortage of local talents. Many who cannot afford an overseas university education have been forced to give up their dreams, take on lesser jobs, just to provide for their families – only to realize that in their lifetimes, that they will lose their jobs in short economic cycles, have their salaries reduced because of cheap foreign labour, and face the next cycle of uncertainties for their own children.

Yes, this is the legacy of 40 years social engineering – of producing a worker-class that cannot revolt against the ruling-class. The foolish social engineering process created by the PAP has resulted in a population base that cannot compete with the best of knowledge-based economies elsewhere. Only to justify their even worse solutions to this problem, by bringing in the zoo-class of clowns and pretenders, skivers at work who do little, but talk and play petty office politics. This is the type of ‘talent’ Singapore imports, and this is the short-term solution to a long-term problem. It is no wonder that the best solution to the Orchard Rd floods, are sandbags placed along the pavement – the real metaphor of the guys we pay millions to solve our problems, when the bunch of jokers are the one who created the problem in the first place.

And then of course, the greastest disservice any local company and its HR departments is guilty of, is the hiring process in which deference is given to the foreign talent, either because they are cheaper, or because they talk and market themselves so well, but often fail to deliver.

Take Hong Kong, Japan, Korea and Taiwan as our nearest comparison models, none of their homegrown corporations will hire or give deferential treatment to a foreigner, to the detriment of their local compatriots. How companies like Matsushita-Panasonic, Toyota, Honda, Samsung, Hyundai, LG, Acer, etc., grow beyond their own domestic market, is really about national pride, national identity, of creating a national brand that each citizen-worker can be proud of.

Any Korean worker can take the streets and go on strike, but it does not dilute their national pride and patriotism. Each engineer on the production line will still insist on exceeding the company’s quality control standards, just so that each product that rolls out of their plant, does not only represent their brand, it represents their country.

Where is this national pride?

How can a wife remain faithful and proud of her husband, if all he does, is to bring home an international variety of prostitutes each night to their marital bed? And his justification to his wife – you are not talented and skilled enough, I need variety, I need to procreate, the cheaper the whore, the better, as long as I get the job done. I want a multitudes of descendants, never mind their quality.

Between Singaporeans and their Government, a social and moral contract has been breached. And we have been betrayed.

There is no point expecting the same government to provide us with better solutions. We have seen and heard them all.

The only way forward, if we do not pack and leave, is for us to take control. We will need to create our own homegrown companies that hire Singaporeans with decent wages. We need to create the real Singapore for Singaporeans. It takes time, but it surely beats allowing the foreign talents to take over our marital beds and land. We are doing this for our children and their future. NS-men, your girlfriends, your wives, your children and all real-blooded Singaporeans, the war has started, and it starts on a psychological level. We fight the fine fight, we will take back our land, our jobs, and our homes.

Never mind what rubbish the PAP generates, it is all noise. Move on, fight to eliminate the trash we do not need. Create our own national brands and corporations, create our own billion-dollar corporations sans Temasek Holdings/GIC. Do not betray your own kind, the way the PAP has.

We are the real soldiers, we are the real matyrs.

Good article. Unfortunately we all need to vote some major spurs into the PAPpies assholes first.

Between a small local startup and a big foreign company, which do you think EDB will support? Who do you think will get much more $$$ grants, tax incentives, rebates etc? Even if you become moderately successful, GLCs and TLCs will swarm you out of the market, undercut you by 10X with hordes of cheaper younger foreigners. Remember that Keppel and SembCorp employ 15,000 foreigners to 5,000 locals —- somemore not all the 5,000 are true-blue citizens, many are double-headed PR snakes.

SO AT THE END OF THE DAY, IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO THE SAME FUNDAMENTAL SOLUTION.

AND THAT IS TO STICK IT TO THE PAPPIES AT THE GE.

    Come on, Singapore for Singaporeans!!

Some MNC here employs 98% Malaysian Chinese with the exception of security guards.

….even than I was told as much 60% of our security guards comes from Malaysia.

The moment PAP gave priority to Malaysia’s education over local the rest becomes automatic. The rot began to settle.

Me too wonder what had our rigorous educational system achieved.Labeling our kids as young as 10yrs old in their primary 4…when they ultimately loose out to Filipinos,Burmese,PRC & Indian villagers whose paper qualifications are highly questionable.

The purpose of bringing in tons of foreigners is primarily intended to drive operation costs low for investors. Productivity is not any different from that of a local, neither is it anymore cost efficient, considering they need to send the foreign employees to school, or some courses that is fundamental & critical, ie; english language course.

For decades, the generations before us probably left their brains at home when they head to the polling stations during GE. I hope this generation of voters won’t repeat the same as those before us.

Well said. True Top Talent will not want to come to Singapore – the market is too small for them and they can make much more elsewhere. So we accept mediocre talent – treat them like precious – only to be used by them and discarded. Only a stupid government can keep doing this.
Why can’t we improve the education system and produce real local talent like Korea,Taiwan or Hong Kong. If the guy at the top is mediocre – the best you can get from his team is also mediocre.

It will be of little use if the Alternative Political Parties take 51% or 55% of the Parliamentary seats.

The Alternative Political Party must take at least 59% to 60% of the Parliamentary Seats, so as to have the Political Mandate to overhaul the entire system put in place by the Pro Alient Party – that will continue to run with their political appointees already slotted in to protect their interests, and sabotage all the new plans of a New Government formed by a duly elected Alternative Political Party.

i am not surprise that chinese feel contented to be subjected to those dictatorial system.

the chinese mentality has problem developing a democratic system that works for them.

most of time, the democratic system is in disguise or fake

there is also hope in this sentence

you CANNOT correct a mistake if you do not KNOW what mistake you have MADE.

in UK, US and most democratic system in the west
    they thrive on this
that is why their parties always arguing with each other
not to ridicule who did wrong but what mistake they have made
how to correct them and how not to repeat them again.

    for the chinese
it system repeat itself over and over again
till today the old system is disguise under the word democratic in another form and explanation like
    “UNIQUELY SINGAPORE”

To cut the long story short, “talents” should be thoroughly scrutinized for the specific industry & jobscope they’re applying for employment in sg, and in due passage qualify for S-pass. (Besides, “talents” should in the 1st place be handpicked and/or head-hunted by the employers, n not flooding in like asylum seekers). The candidates should by default, upon entry to sg, satisfy all possible criteria which MUST include competency & proficiency in english and a 2nd local language.

I simply can’t find myself agreeing to the concept of a “talent”, who’s handicapped in the common language in sg, where he/she is incapable of integrating him/herself in our society. Let alone talk about efficacy and/or productivity.

If it is possible to stream our locals (as well as to quickly condemn the late-bloomers), then it should all the more be easier to benchmark & set criteria for incoming foreign candidates.

I sometimes marvel at how well the scholars design policies to torment their fellow countrymen, but make it easy for the under-par foreigners. Leaves me little to wonder, what other description befitting other than; double-standard

This will make future degree certificate worth like rubbish. To the poor family, the hardworking child and good results will always graded as third class with such a controlled “education environment”. If property price is so insane and easily control nowadays, you think the certificate paper is even more easier to make 2nd class children worth like toilet paper. Remember Li Kah Shing’s son self proclaim Stanford University graduate? Even after the scandal, Harvard university still have the cheek to support him with a membership in International Advisory Board of the Center for International Development.

This is the reason why there are so many self-proclaim no.1 education that many parents in Singapore deceive themselves yet no one is contributing any breakthrough in any research field.

  • Fed Up:

I feel absolutely tired of life just because I am not academically inclined to study at the university and just because my family and I are not rich, we are doom for life. Its very tiring when you have to struggle against so many challenges in life. Its like waves after waves of problems pouring onto you like rising costs of living, foreign talents fighting for jobs with you, low paying jobs and unreasonable bosses, etc etc etc. There is only so much that one can endure in life. I have reached my max, honestly. There is simply no hope for me in this world. Thats why I really hope that I would be dead rather than suffer anymore. Perhaps this is my karma, maybe? But I couldn’t care about the reasons anymore. All I know is I am dead if I am poor and not educated, that’s all. No such thing as miracles in this world.
