MM Lee will probably disagree to an Election this year due to so many uncertainties
After watching the National Day Rally 2010 for the 3rd time, I am very positive of how insecure PM Lee is feeling right now. This is probably what you get for having an educated people empowered with worldly knowledge no thanks to the Internet.
PM Lee is really clueless.
Yes, he is aware of the rising unhappiness, but he has no idea how unhappy the people are. He presented some pretty lop-sided arguments especially in support of immigration policies and productivity. We heard how he gave us Singaporeans a lecture on how important and vital to be supportive of his policies.
The people do understand the rationale behind the policies, but the PM do not understand the rationale behind the unhappiness. When you are in politics, people’s interests comes first, or you lose support. PM Lee did not mention a little bit about the rationale behind the unhappiness.
Take for example, we Singaporeans are unhappy against the unbridled influx of foreigners, and NOT against having foreigners here. Raising the population by 66% in a 20 year time span(3 million in 1990 to 5 million in 2010) without ensuring our public amenities, HDB flats, universities, railway track, MRT, buses, increase in space/volume by 66% is the crux of the problem.
Overcrowding is the key, not the presence of foreigners. one most important key area PM Lee has left out – the compromising of salary and under-employment. why is there no mention of salary growth(less inflation) and the structural under-employment affecting the livelihood of many Singapore families?
Or take another example, are we Singaporeans, as PM Lee mentioned, really worried that the presence of Foreigners will harm our racial and religious harmony? PM Lee conveniently picked up a secondary school text.
Other key areas PM Lee failed to address – Retirement, Ageing Population, Traffic Congestion, Town Council Sinking Funds, Qualification and Quantification of Public Assistance, Criminalization of Homos, HDB Pricings and Availability, Cost of Living, Accountability and Transparency on Temasek Holdings and GIC, Overloaded and Unaffordable Healthcare, Unhealthy Rich-Poor Income gap, Insufficient Subsidized University Places for Singaporeans.
All these years, the PAP has always appeal to voters through Economical Progress and Nationalism – one to appeal to the younger and more educated population who care nuts about Nationalism, and the other to appeal to the older loyalists who care nuts about Economical Progress so long they have a job. MM Lee and the PAP old guards formulated this comprehensive tactic and which keeps the PAP alive to be one of the longest ruling party in the world (highly controversial especially when we are never a full democracy).
If you have followed up on the National Rally speech every year, the PAP never fail to start off their speeches and announcements with the latest development of our Economy. After that, they will emphasize on the development of our people in education and infrastructures, and most importantly, our Future.
This year is different.
PAP’s latest Foreigners policy in 2000 has successfully destroyed both the economical and nationalistic aspects of the voters.
Many Singaporeans do not see how the 18% GDP growth translates into lower cost of living, higher salary and cheaper housing. Affordability is the issue. Our people are postponing marriage and children plans because of Affordability, and not because of PM Lee’s out-of-touch delusion that Singaporeans are just not horny.
Our Singaporean Identity has also been diluted and even threatened with the number of new citizens and permanent residents who do not speak English, serve NS or conform to Singapore social norms. The Future certainly doesn’t look like it is going to be anything Singaporean, but more Chinese and Indian.
MM Lee will most probably disagree to allow calling of an Election to come in this year of so much uncertainties. The PAP’s reputation has already suffered several beatings with the help of Heavens (floodings) and their self-stabbings (YOG and YPAP). The increasing strength in credible Opposition Parties like the recent RP-SPP’s Alliance effort has also spread fear in the PAP.
And why the Election will not come this year? This year’s Rally Speech sounds more like a problem-sharing session than one which offers concrete solutions to our problems. No new and motivating initiatives that win the crowd, no carrots for the voters, no nonsense warnings like “if you dont have the PAP, Singapore might not be where we are today” issued, no running down of Opposition Parties, no mentioning of a Leadership Renewal (probably a new term for MM Lee Kuan Yew when SM Goh becomes the MM, what do you guys think of MF, “My Fuhrer”?)
The PAP doesn’t look like a solution to Singaporeans problems at all, or rather, we should be thankful the PAP not to add on new problems in this direction we are heading.
Alex Tan

“delusion that Singaporeans are just not horny.”
this is funny..LOL

Have you guys noticed this 2010 ND speech by PM? While i was watching halfway through, out of sudden im like in a trance, i suddenly saw the death of PM LSH. No jokes, folks. Im not joking with you people. I swear it in my heart that trance is real right in front of my eyes when im looking straight at PM Lee doing his speech. I saw death in this person. When i saw it, i quickly switch off my TV. I felt so eerie feeling inside my heart as if it is a ghost having a speech down there. Let’s wait and see…… I really foresees his death very near soon.

Hi Volunteers,
This is no Spam or joke.
Forward to anyone interested to help Reform Party. For yourself and future generations (as they had to face more and more importing in Foreigners to compete with yourself and children and their children for jobs/schooling/MRT/bus/housing/living expenses).
See http://www.facebook.com/notes/irene-ho-votingrp/do-you-just-want-facebook-free-of-supervision-or-do-you-want-democracy-kenneth-j/417939296055
See RP (meaning Reform Party) blog for more info on the candidates. All of them are on Facebook.
Click under “Parliamentary candidates” in http://www.votingrp.wordpress.com/
There are other areas that you can help too. For example during the 9 days of campaign, we need many volunteers too. This period is the most crucial period. Even if the Reform Party did their homework by doing walkabouts etc now, this 9 days of campaign is aka to the “exam period”. If the Reform Party didn’t do well during this period, all the hardwork done previously would have been wasted.
I understand that we need volunteers who are able to devote a block of time in the 9 days of the rallies during election. (not sure whether can help just a few days out of the 9 days.
General help is needed to help deliver pamphlets and with fundraising now and logistics during the actual election. E.g. You can help us run the store selling t-shirts etc in the evening.
One GRC needs 2,500 to 3,000 posters. Once election is announced we only have 24 hrs to put them up. (One of the options you can help)
We will need volunteers for sports stadium bookings, crowd control, sound system set up and so on. Walkabout teams, Mobile lorry team , food and logistics supplier team. Translators needed in the media team for research and speech writing. We also need more Polling agents. 10 -15 per station and Counting agents.
Anyone who think they had enough of Pappies and want to contribute their bit please visit Reform party at ChinaTown office. Thanks.

Tell the A**hole LHL to look at DBS.
That place has a super pro FT policy and where is it now?
Lose money despite having massive govt support.
If FT is good, then he is certainly not attracting talent because DBS for example sucked.
Either that he doesn’t run the show well.

Put it this way, they’ve been throwing smoke for ages, they’ve gotten too used to throwing smoke, n now that the wonds have changed, they r now smoking themselves. It is time they realize that this new generation of voters r no longer the bunch of dinosaurs that subscribe to their propaganda. We r a generation of learned people, n we’re not gullible to take the same bullshit they’ve been recycling & reciting for ages.
The oldman may have implied in some way, that mah deserves to die by his own sword, should he fail to defend his policies. But, hello!!! Look at the bigger picture please. 1 man’s stupidity resulting in a nation that can’t afford housing?
Their ideals about bringing in foreigners indiscriminately is their own undoing. They better be prepared to swallow the bitter pill, come polling day.
As far as it goes for my records, they ran out of lifeline a long time ago

if the polls of TR are accurate, then PAP will not delay elections.
the polls at TR (RHS) shows that 58% out of 311 votes goes to PAP while 17% goes to credible opposition and 25% to any monkey.
considering that TR attracts more opposition supporters, this poll result is certainly weird.

Frankly it doesn’t matter if it’s not held this year. There’s a dateline. The current fundamental cause(s) for our country’s problems will not be able to be resolved by that election dateline.
It’s going to take years to fix it when we get on the right track if ever.

PAP and LKY will never lost.
They have turned Singapore into a heaven from a fishing village island.
If PAP lost, all our national reserves of over 150 billions will go down to drain in a short time. Just see.
Our Sg women have to go oversea to become maids. Sg dollar value will depreciate at least 30% to 50%.
A 5 rms HDB flat will tumble to 100 thousands. No plane will arrive at Changi Airport. Orchard will be as quiet as Pulau Ubin.
We all will lost the job and sit at home drink Northwest wind.

Just dug up this data. Taking four 1st world countries whose per Capita GDP is way above ours but with population similar to ours, you can see that other 1st world countries don’t subscribe to PAP’s “we need foreigners to grow” theory. Only dumb idiots who have run out of ideas to grow an economy will resort to simply dumping bodies into the economy to grow it:
Per Capita GDP by IMF (2009)
Rank Country US$
2 Norway 79,085
5 Denmark 56,115
6 Ireland 51,356
12 Finland 44,492

Ireland 4,401,335 12.6%
Norway 4,737,171 5.6%
Finland 5,300,484 2.5%
Denmark 5,475,791 5.5%
*Singapore 4,839,400 34.6% <<<<

A white horse will forever be a white horse.
there is a saying, wealth does not carry on for 3 generations.
They always says, the first generation works hard, the second generation enjoys the fruits and the third generations destroys everything
So who are the third generation politicians?
MBT LHL and VB i would say…. oblilerate everything in their path with their delusions, misconception, dreams and deaf. They are so disconnected with the people they rule over
True we have the first generation calling us daft but why didn’t they think of why the people are unhappy about.

Good one, Alex!! Actually, I think PM Lee knows the ground isnt that rosy as I am sure he reads TR too or at least, he has someone telling him what we are posting here. If he’s to do the election this year, for sure some of his useless/deadwood/obedient guards could be voted out. People arent stupid anymore & most of us are rather highly educated. People do read blogs & would form their own opinions on things. It’s like PM Lee is the marketing director of some FMCG company & he spends millions on advertisings to remind us consumers that his products are the best, but end of the day, we still might not buy them cos there’s something called word of mouth. It’s a very powerful tool that could make or break a brand. Just like when you wanna buy a car, you probably would listen to your friends, uncles or parents cos their comments seem more trustworthy than those big establishments’. Or in most cases, you would serve the net to see what other buyers are talking about a particular brand or make.
This is where the PAP will lose out big time cos they are not good with the internet & they couldnt control what’s happening in cyberspace!! They are spending too much time trying to blackout bad news in the media when they could address the issues opening. It used to work in the 70s & 80s cos we dont know what’s happening on the other side of the island, but with the internet, we could share informations & form our own judgement on various problems. PAP shouldnt just sweep everything under the carpet as 50 years of dirt do show up, somehow!! They should engage the citizens more & listen to their problems & tailor real non-profit-making policies to help the people. However, what I see is if there’s a problem, just increase price; too many traffic jams, increase ERP or too many cars, increase COE. It just cannot go on like this & people will get pissed paying & paying. They shouldnt take us as idiots & I felt so insulted when PM Lee said that the 2% increment in GST is to help the poor!! I wonder how many uncles or aunties they have helped so far!
I wish they would call for an election this year & hopefully, we could prove that we dont really mind a few doses of bad government……just to prove some senile old man wrong & how nobody is irreplaceable!

Don’t be fooled. LHL knows the foreigner/FT situation. But to him, it’s not a problem, but just part of the grand scheme of things. Cheap labor, explosion in GDP (good for their report cards).
I guess this is also a result of signing FTAs with all countries. There is not only a free flow of goods and services, but people as well.
FTAs destroy local enterprise, promote global government(not a good thing), and eventually breeds social problems. No one benefits from FTAs. Tariffs remain high, imported goods remain expensive.
Observe all around you. All the small family businesses are going the way of the dinosaur. Replaced by corporations, franchises, ‘brands’. Everything is outsourced, and reduced to pandering to the lowest bidder.
This is what you get for allow a band of corporate fascist thugs to run a government.

What about prices of Rice? And other basic staple food? What happened to NTUC Fairprice? It was formed in the past to help the poor and prevent price fixing – to provide affordable prices. Now, Sheng Siong and even some neigbourhood shophouses sell some items cheaper than NTUC. Another good example are Milk prices. Keep on going up…
The bottom line for shareholders are being used to justify maintaining yearly profits.
Privatization of what used to be public has resulted in the current situation today where citizens have become equivalent of digits in a corporate enterprise.

Aiyah, GE confirmed will be end of this year, most probably November lah. All the fucking civil servants already go for training and re-training since May/June. If postpone to next year, all these 100,000 civil servants already pissed off & forgot what they suppose to do liao.
Somemore TV news just reported that Elections Dept just appointed ST and SingTel to scout out the various election venues around S’pore.
PAPies counting on the current “good feel” in the economy to get majority vote again. Over 50% of Sinkies will be busy working and earning for big year-end bonuses and salary increments — where got time to bother with highfalutin politics & ideals?!? High chance they will vote for PAPies, even though many of them feel uneasy with PAPies policies. Money talks bullshit walks. Sama-sama for those who earn over $6,000/mth — sure vote PAPies coz they don’t really feel the bad effects of PAPies policies.
I also suspect that PAPies will launch massive internet blackout and cyber-attacks for 2 weeks before the GE date. PAPies will be sending ministers and IDA to Beijing to learn from the Cheenas how to implement the Great Firewall. PAPies may simply end up paying China govt $100M to come to Singapore and implement the damn thing themselves.

With alternative feedback sources giving a true picture of the situation – more then PM LHL had dared to admit – an Old Dog like MM LKY must surely know that the message from his son had failed to connect with the hearts and minds of Singaporeans.
PM LHL as the speaker was as shaky as his message, and the delivery of the message was more shaky then the topics chosen in the message.
Clearly, it is unlikely that Elections can be held in September 2010 and if the following two to three months cannot turn do not see the Pro Alien Party fixing the situation to favor themeselves – the next General Election will surely allow the Alternative Political Parties the opportunity to advance.
The issues are clear, and it is useless for the Pro Alien Party to stone wall on the issues of deepest concern to Singaporean.
It is pathetic that the Pro Alien Party will act deaf, pretend that the problems do not exist – so that the problems will disappear over time.
Singaporeans have alternative sources of information, and real opinions are best when left uncensored – see below.

You cannot have the same family in power for more than 50 years, this is why democractic country only allows president to be in power no longer than 8 years. if we continue to progress along this path, how different is us from North K’s Kim?
In the last 2 or 3 years, our property prices soared out of control, now costing around half a million where our CPF ordinary account cannot serve but to fork out cash and leaving many young couples unable to afford their first home.
Their self serving policies make a lot of people sick, especially most people are struggling to stay afloat with lower wages. Their reasons are self deluding ie FT increases our pay blah blah. That was never the case, our pay has been depressed and many are abused by employers who preferred cheap labour than hiring locals.
How can you pay yourself millions and ask citizens to tighten their belts and not ask for higher pay where cost of living spiral out of control? This is very selfish and egoistic policy where they want to be in absolute control and share wealth amongst themselves.
Those GST credits used for election are rendered useless as they are quickly recouped after election with various of taxs and fee hikes. Intimidation and fear are tools that they use on citizens in exchange for their votes but for how long? When people are forced into the corner, they no longer fear, they rebound.
Singapore used to be a reasonable place to live but now most people live in anxiety and fear of unable to live decently with their low pay. And competition wasnt brought by their enemies but by the people that governed them.
When you stand at the ivory tower and shouting unity to a group of peasants and you expect them to say YES? For many years, yes… this was the case. But now people are generally sick and tired of hearing the same excuses for all the screwed up policies and lousy policies.
The media may have painted a glossy picture of almost anything but the people on the ground can feel and see the real. They cannot coincide and equate what has been published against their ground, so there is no point telling the same set of crap.

On one hand, I can’t wait for the GE to be held asap so that I can cast my vote for the oppositions.
On another, I’m really worried that what if the PAPayas are returned to power. Sporeans are sure to become the minority. Sg is sure to perish.
We can’t deny the fact that there’re still a lot of ignorant native citizens out there. Plus so many bootlickers, so many civil servants and not forgetting the foreigners who have become new SC. Votes from this group of pple will most likely to go PAPayas’ way. So how??? What if it’s again a 1-party system for another 5 yrs?
I dread to think the latter will happen.

During every National Day Rally speech, the PM would never fail to pacify the electorate with PAP’s usual dose of rhetorics and of course at the same time offer some new promises.
After some 45 years of self-proclaimed achievement in “democratic” governance and economic success, the PAP even bragged about how China was impressed with its record long reigning one-party rule during its recent visit to China with its entourage of 46 MPs.One then wonders if this is true, then it surely makes better sense for the PAP Ministers and MPs to go to Iraq and impart its rich experience to the Iraqis (with the endorsement of its strong ally US). Afterall,it’s a “win-win” strategy as PAP could learn how the past Saddam Hussein regime managed to garner 96% of votes during elections (and improve PAP’s 66.6% hence);at the same time teach them how to run the country in this post-Saddam era (with its top-of-the-world salaries for its Ministers and MPs formula of course).

This is what happens when “white” horses and scholars run the country. They are not in touch or rather cannot empathise with the ground because from a young age they were more or less shielded from the ground. I know of kids who have never eaten in a hawker centre maybe a food court and that too very seldom.
His speech is very insincere as he was skirting only the thin top. He and the PAP are digging their demise. We do not have to put up with them anymore, it will get bad for us down the road if we do not take affirmative action at the next election.

Somemore the PAP made amiscalculation regarding new citizens. From what I see, these are the most mercenary group of people you can find.
You can do a hundred good things for them in the past, maybe they thank you at tht point. But the moment someone else promise them something better, they become ungrateful and forget your past help.
This means that if someone like Chee Soon Juan start promising to distribute our reserves (which our forefathers accumulated) to citizens (which they are now entitled), or propose to create welfare state, they would vote opposition. After all, they are here for short term money and would not care how we fare long term.

I’ve noticed that many individuals are claiming that the PAP are clueless. I am however more than certain that they are far from clueless about whats going on.
We have to put things in perspective. The primary agenda at the moment is to secure an election win for the PAP. So we ask ourselves how are they going to do it? Election strategy is always based on demographics..eg, race, age, gender, etc. In our case, a new demographic profile has emerged…enter the new Singaporean.
We can rest assured that almost all new Singaporeans ( 1 in ?) who are predominantly of a voting age will be voting PAP. That leaves us with the ‘normal’ Singaporeans. We can be sure that most civil servants, employees in stat boards and their families will be voting for PAP too out of either fear or a big bonus somewhere. So now we have the ‘rest’. The sweetners during the rally may convert a few i believe but not many..you see how it goes. Its more complex than this of course due to zones and all but you get the picture.
For many decades the PAP have played this exact game with our racial demographics. As long as the 77 percent Chinese population was appeased all was well. With the ’speak mandarin’ campaign and how proud you should be as a Chinese, the constant reminders of how successful chinese people are. Chinese Singaporeans were made to feel special, wanted and grateful. Made to feel better that their malay or indian citizens. Jobs ads would boldly state that chinese were preferred. That’s a near crime in some places. All top positions were easily going to Chinese Singaporeans with the token few to the others just to keep up appearances.
Not much effort was needed to appease the Malay or Indian population since the majority of 77% was secured. It however, effectively destroyed any possibility of creating a Singaporean identity. To the older readers…have you noticed that sigaporeans were more ‘Singaporean’ in the 70s and 80s?
To divide and conquer was necessary to stay in power. Secure the loyalty of the majority and you are secured of an election victory.
The non-Chinese population have known this for years. HAVE YOU EVER NOTICED that decades have gone by, and with the large inflow of migrants and high rate of emigration and low replacement levels Singapore has still managed to maintain a steady ratio of malays indians and chinese? Di you not think that some demographic management is at play?
The game is different now, a new group has emerged. What do you think will happen when their numbers rise?

Agreed – they aren’t so much clueless as they are working according to a plan that conveniently excludes most of us. >_>

why not, no confidence or premature ? com’on call for election, lets see if u’ve the mandate of the ppl, anything below 60% show u do not hv it, u need score abv 80% just like our education system, if u want go top JC or even poly u need score well in our O
wonder if they’ve forgotten one quote, when u’re kept busy working and making meeting end needs, one won’t bother abt politics, but with the influx of FT, many aren’t working as hard as we wish, and many force to downgrade when hit 50’s, 40’s or even younger
Vote Wisely for a Better Tomorrow and “More Good Ears” or no Tomorrow

60% of SIngaporeans ( likely above 40 years old ) are suffering . They have very big problem getting a decent job and their chidrens are still schooling and needs money . The influx of FTs have taken almost all the jobs belonging to these group ( 60% of the SG population ) . This coming election will be fun to watch . it will be historic . All those who have previously voted them might not do it again . Its real and its happening . Just talk to your family memebers and you can feel it . At the end of the day , if citizens have good job and are taken care off , they don’t care who is the ruling party . However , if they suffer , they will have no choice but to vote for a change . This is just human behaviour and common sense .
