Reform Party walkabout on 7 September at Jurong West Street 92
For the third time in less than a week, the Reform Party will be conducting another walkabout in Jurong, this time at Blk 931 Jurong West Street 92 (Hong Kah GRC), 7pm this evening (7 September 2010) to meet up and interact with the residents up close and personal. (more updates on its Facebook here.)
It has just conducted a walkabout last Sunday along Jurong Street 91. Reform Party leaders and activists have been working hard round the clock to cover Hong Kah GRC which it is likely to contest in the next general election.
Besides its commitment to grassroots work, RP candidates in the next elections are also penning their thoughts on the latest socio-political developments in Singapore on their personal blogs such as its Secretary-General Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam, Mr Tony Tan Lay Thiam and Mr Jeisilan Sivalingam.
Though it is a relatively new and small party compared to other heavyweights like the Workers’ Party, the Reform Party has managed to win over many neutrals with its young, engaging and forward-looking leadership who is in tune with the genuine concerns, worries and aspirations of Singaporeans, especially the post-1965 generation.
Under the astute leadership of Mr Kenneth Jeyaretnam, the party members and activists have been transformed into a tightly-knitted, well-organized and potentially formidable team which will only become more oiled, trained and experienced with time.
However, let us not forget that the PAP still enjoys a clear advantage due to its misuse of state resources to serve its political interest as admitted by its strongman Lee Kuan Yew who boasted proudly that all grassroots organizations in Singapore are “part of the PAP” to a visiting Chinese delegation last year.
As we can see for ourselves, RP has been working hard on the ground even before the date of the next election is announced, but its grassroots activities as well as that of other opposition parties are almost never reported by the mainstream media which gives the erroneous public impression that the opposition only makes an appearance “once in five years.”
Being a relatively new party founded only in 2008 by the late respected opposition leader J.B. Jeyaretnam, the Reform Party needs a lot of ground support from Singaporeans in its quest to provide us with an alternative voice in Parliament as well as an alternative vision for our future.
It is not easy to run, let alone build and expand a political party in Singapore under a repressive climate of fear perpetuated by the PAP. RP needs every support it can get from Singaporeans, be it human or financial resources. It’s time for us leave the comforts of our armchairs and start doing some real hard work for the party we support.
Please email Theng Wei at [email protected] to enquire or volunteer for the above event.

Truth or no truth, this article still exudes propaganda.
TR is supposed to be “an internet newspaper which aims to provide an independent, balanced and unbiased coverage on socio-political affairs in Singapore. We are not linked to any political party or commercial entity” but clearly it isn’t so, as the articles have over time degenerated into scraps of blatant name-calling and anti-entablishment journalism, I need to filter them off to find them enjoyable.

This is simply ridiculous. This fucked-up and highly incompetent PAP govt has been screwing up this country so badly that our country is about to become extinct and yet this fucked-up and totally biased SPH continues to support this fuckingly fucking fucked-up defunct PAP govt in totally disgraceful ways that can only bring shame and disgust to our nation.
Why can’t they give a more balanced report by providing better and objective reporting of the opposition parties who have every legitimate right to contest the PAP and take over the Government?
Who are these idiots working in SPH? Are they PAP lackeys or genuine Singapore citizens who want to see a better life for their families and their fellow citizens? Why can’t these bloody idiots give all opposition parties and Singapore citizens a fair chance to elect the next govt instead of resorting to biased and nonsensical reporting in favour of the PAP govt? May their souls be condemned to eternal hell if they continue to support a fuckingly fucking fucked-up PAP govt who has done nothing but continue to mislead Singapore towards utter ruin. Hell waits for these SPH zombies.

I ll keep an open mind..
Its Good to be offered an alternative choice after so many walk-overs..and not given the rights to vote.
It better than no contest or nothing happen / no change at all.
Its a welcoming move to give people an opportunity to hear what they have to offer and to improve the lives of Singaporeans.
Most importantly, the party members must serve the people if they were elected into parliament.
I always believe that we vote a candidate into Parliament is for him to look after our needs and our interest as well as to serve the country.
We be the judge and gauge his performance over his term in office.

Hi Faber Castell

Some poisons require a very strong antidote.

Local MSM is purely for propaganda purposes only.
That is why they can’t get citizens to join them and have to resort to hiring cheap foreign workers.

to all doubters of the article.
to me,it’s a plain simple pro-singaporean reminder to all true blue sinkies to SUPPORT THE GUYS WHO WALK THE SLIPPERY PATH FOR THEM.
if we want our interests represented, then we should act in good faith rather than be swayed by all the negative comments.
a propaganda is usually applied by the ‘RULING PARTY’,RIGHT?
SO,THIS IS no propaganda,THIS IS COUNTER-PROPAGANDA,MY FELLOW SINKIES!

@jaytee – agree with you. Just skip those noise, though some are for me quite creative……
@TR – it will do well for this forum if you do moderate to reduce blantant name-calling and vulgarities, “moderate” means not to get into extremes – some free spirit comments posted here are fine. Please consider.

While we are happily bashing our current government, can the opposition parties show us that they have the ability to do a better job? It’s time the little parties forget their personal differences, bury their ego and band together, form a coalition, stand together against their common enemy.
They should start thinking about their election strategy together so that they contest in the “right” constituents.

First thing first – get all your acts together.
Rally all the opposition for a UNITED front.
Decide upon where each stands to avert 3 corner fights.
Start to do planning on resources, logistics, election strategy and outline clear agendas, referendums and plan what to talk and “talk right”.
“CHANGE for a better Tomorrow Singapore !” shall be the keyword.

FACTS: most Singaporeans that “complain the most” are the ones who voted for PAP Govt. in every general election
Before I listen to those complain, I always (dig 2 holes) did you complain during the last election??? who did you vote during the last election???
These champion complainers was caught red handed, suddenly become very shy, lost for words
Infact, they like the Govt. they approved the Govt. action, just that the find the weather too hot, so they complain lor
They will vote for the Govt. remember every election opposition rally had the most crowds but the least votes, they never win anything this is a fact
