VIDEO of Young Lions Vs Beijing GuoAn Big Brawl: Young Lions provoked into fights
The rising tension between native Singaporeans and the mainland Chinese has boiled over even into sports as a S-League match between Young Lions and Beijing Guoan was abandoned due to an ugly brawl which appeared to be provoked first by the PRC players.
Beijing Guoan Football Club was formed in December 31, 1992 by the CITIC Guoan Group and the Beijing Municipal Sports Committee. It is now participating in Singapore’s S-League at the invitation of the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).
The eventful match yesterday at Jalan Besar stadium disintegrated into a fight between players and officials of both teams towards the end with Young Lions’ midfielders Gabriel Quak and Faritz Abdul Hameed sent to hospital after they were injured as captured by the video below:
[Download the entire video clip here or here. DISCLAIMER: TR did not record the video clip and neither did it upload it]
[Please join our Facebook discussion on this video here]
Beijing Guoan players are wearing green jerseys while the Young Lions are in dark blue. As we can see from the above clip, the Beijing Guoan players started the fracas at 0:24 min when one of them shoved a Singapore player to the ground.
At 1:53 min, a Beijing Guoan player threw in a sliding tackle which caused the Singapore players to confront him. Another PRC player rushed to his aid and pushed a Singapore player to the ground at 1:58 min, sparking a fight between the two teams:

[1:52 min: PRC player going for the legs of Singapore player rather than the ball]

[1:54 min: Singapore player lying on the ground cringing in pain]
While the Singapore players tried to stop the fight, the PRC players appeared to lose control of themselves and went amok, with one of them stamping on the legs of a Singapore player who had gone on the ground:

[2:19 min: PRC player stamping on the legs of Singapore player not once, but a few times]
Shockingly, at 2:25 min, a PRC player appeared to launch a malicious karate kick on a Singapore player followed by head-butting at 2:35 min. The PRC player kept punching the head of the poor Singapore player who was trying to fend off his vicious attacks:

[2:36 min: Singapore player crashed to the ground after being head-butted from behind by a PRC player]

[2:38 min: PRC player raised his fist at Singapore player after the latter tried to pick himself up]

[2:39 min: The PRC player continued punching the head of the Singapore player who tried in vain to dodge his attacks]
FAS said it would conduct an investigation into the matter, but no police reports were made against the PRC players for “inciting violence and public disorder.”
Some of the PRC players including the one who kept punching the head of a Singapore player should be arrested and charged for assault. There is no place in our society for such violent behavior whether it occurs on a pitch or off it.
When interviewed by Channel News Asia, a fan said:
“After going a goal up, Beijing were under siege from the Young Lions and there was a lot of time-wasting from them, plus a series of niggly skirmishes. After the equaliser, two separate fights broke out almost simultaneously, and the referee, his assistants and the fourth official all went onto the pitch to try and quell the situation. However, they couldn’t control things and some players were even chasing each other around the pitch. Thankfully, it was all over in about three minutes.”
This is not the first time that mainland Chinese are involved in activities which may “incite violence and public disorder”. Last week, 14 PRC male singers were arrested for beating their Singaporean manager into a pulp over a dispute. (read article here)
In January this year, a PRC family of five was allowed to “hijack” a SBS bus for five hours by the Singapore police who subsequently have to “escort” them down the bus. They were not arrested or charged for “inciting violence and public disorder” either. (read article here)
In contrast, the Singapore police was quick to arrest a 27 year old Singaporean for “inciting violence and public disorder” when all he did was to criticize a minister on Facebook. It remains to be seen if the Singapore police dare take any action against the PRC players.
The mainland Chinese appears to be given preferential treatment by the PAP regime which enjoys cosy ties with the Chinese Communist Party.
During an interview with National Geographic magazine this year, PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew said it is a “good thing” that Singapore is accepting so many Chinese immigrants (from mainland China) as they are more “hard-driving” and “hard-striving” than Singaporeans.
From the above video, the Beijing Guoan players had indeed proven themselves to be more “hard-driving” and “hard-striving” than the Singapore players and as such, it will not be a surprise if they are classified as “foreign talents” by the PAP regime and given Singapore PRs and citizenships soon, assuming they bite the carrot, of course.
EDITORS’ NOTE:
The original video has been removed from Youtube because the person who recorded and uploaded the video clip was warned by the “authorities” to do so as the incident is still “pending investigations”. We are still in the process of getting the details.

From the video, I can’t see who started the fight and the ST gives a different account. I think maybe the Singaporeans players were very upset with the number of people from China in Singapore and needed to vent their frustrations.

I think this is a shitty case regarding the PRC players.
And yes, I think Singaporeans already know certain behaviors of some Chinese nationals are uncultured such as hijacking a bus, scolding the old lady at China town.
But there’s really not much point in bringing in the other cases, because they are not related to the news of the soccer match at all.

GOSH ! MY PREDICTION CAME TRUE.
At least half of it.
I predicted a PRC vs SG football match turning into an ugly fist for all.
FOLLOWED BY THE SPECTATORS JOINING IN.
Soon, the words spreads around like a wild fire—THE 2 MILLION PRC IN SINGAPORE ARE AGITATED AT THEIR PERCEIVED HUMILIATION
Sounds like a science fiction?…DON’T BELIEVE !
Well, why donch you guys check out the recent ethnic racial riots in China in Youtube.Just google “Race riot in China!Han VS Uygur”
The ingredients are always the same.
1.Foreigners invade local territory under the protection of the government.
2.Locals deep resentment of foreigners.
3.An unprovoked remote incident sparks violence.
4.Soon the rest of the country is engulfed in racial riots.
Folks ,just do a head count and see if we indeed have points 1. & 2. now in hand because the rest is automatic –anytime/anywhere.
AND MORE.
Because, the nationalities who are foreigners matters most. Why?
1.Because if they are Bangladeshis–SG can afford to repatriate them all in sinking ships and they have no voice in UN.
2.BUT PRC ARE CITIZENS OF UN SECURITY COUNCIL PERMANENT MEMBER -CHINA.
Similar in status to USA or RUSSIA.
SO DON’T PRAY PRAY.
JUST ENJOY GETTING BEATEN BY PRC WITH A SMILE.
BECAUSE PAP CANNOT HELP YOU EVEN IF IT WANTS TO.
The price you have to pay for having 2 million of foreign nationality who is a nuclear power.

I don’t understand the decision by Singapore and the FAS on bringing the Chinese team to compete in the S.League in the hopes of “improving the playing standard” of the local league. Of course I don’t deny that there has been some increase in playing standards. Brunei DPMM and Etoile FC have showcased brilliant football occasionally. But time and time again have we been shown that the Chinese teams will be embroiled in some sort of controversy, be it Dalian Shide, Sinchi FC or Liaoning Guangyuan. When Beijing Talent was brought in, I think many people have already half expected this outcome, and I think they have been correct.
Why choose Beijing Talent FC over the Korean Super Reds? The Super Reds was the best performing foreign team in the league and they were even intent on turning local, rebranding themselves as the Yishun Super Reds. But Singapore turned their backs on them, and chose the Chinese.
We shouldn’t fix something that ain’t broken.

People, these Cheenamen hate Sillyporeans for a good reason, because their Cheenawomen are taken by Sillyporean men. They cannot get, or afford, a piece of the action. So their sexual frustration just build up and up until explode on the pitch. You have to understand this and consider that the Sillyporean players are lucky that the got a few punches on their faces instead of the Cheenamen’s cum on their faces!

I urge everyone to watch the video again…both parties are at fault. The young lions should not have ignored the referee’s yellow card at the 1.55-57 mark. The Beijing Guoan player already raised his hands in acknowledgement of his cynical offense. However, 2 singapore players still refused to let him go. The Singapore team have won a free kick from this incident, having fought back to tie the game, they could have gone for the win to show that they are the better team! 2.19 mark, the singapore bench already emptied on to the field first and there were 2 of them who beat one ah tiong already. And if the Singapore team wanted to fight and brawl, at very least, they could have given a good fight lah. Can’t even fight properly and kena KO-ed some more. sianz.

it’s one thing to criticize the PAP government for it’s FT/immigration policies. but it’s another thing to incite hatred against individuals or a particular race/nationality. what you’ve done in this and many of your articles is akin to promotion of xenophobia. sooner or later you’ll get into trouble.
Editor’s note: How is reporting a fact of an incident tentamount to “incite hatred against individuals or a particular race/nationality” we fail to understand. I think the Beijing footballers thought that Singapore footballers are Chinese (maybe due to the hot weather in Singapore, the chinese in SIngapore are tanned)
and overseas chinese (Singaporean) can be easily bullied….
Thinking Singaporean are obedient and ‘by the book’…
what they didn’t know was, the young lions are full of Malays
and malays dont take ’shit’ when provoke since the malays community have nothing against Chinamen…
So when the Beijing footballers play aggressively, the Malay retaliate..
unfortunately, it escalate to fist fight…
Since the malay are bounded by the laws in Singapore, they could only fend off the fist fight(while some didn’t)…
What we learn here from these video is that….
The malays are bounded by the laws in SIngapore that limits thier
true potential…..

It’s good to see somebody stand up to arrogant and bratty Singaporeans. It gives me a sort of feeling of contentment.
Singapore’s neighbours have tried to do it in the past but without a powerful economy, it just looked like a case of sour grapes and the neighbours couldn’t really stand up to Singapore creditably because Singapore always had the ‘oh they are just jealous’ defense, even though that was never really the case.

Perhaps the Sports Minister can explain. If Singaporean Abdul Malik was arrested for “inciting violence and public disorder” by using the word “burn” on his facebook, shouldn’t these PRC players be arrested immediately for assaulting our Singaporean S-League players already? What is the Singapore police doing? Dare to arrest Singaporeans but dare not touch foreigners?

Why isn’t the Singapore Police Force investigating this case of rioting? When Abdul Malik posted his comments on Facebook, his arrest was swift. When Shafie was photographing the flood, the police handcuffed him.
What happenned here? No police presence?

‘Look at video 2:34-2:35 mins. The Chinese sub kicked/stamped the Singaporean’s head. That Chinese sub should be charged in court for assault causing grievous hurt. FAS please charge him in court. We don’t need PRC gangsters here.’
I saw too, I assume the injured is the malay player from online news ‘Gabriel suffered an injury to his arm while Faritz sustained a head injury’. The Young Lion was already down on the field then lifting his head up and kanna kicked in the head. So barbaric! Attacking the head could kill. What is the prc player thinking? Man-slaughering or attempted murder? If the victim is a Malay, then thanks prc, for causing racial disharmony in my country.

Why did the authorities ask the person who put the video on youtube to withdraw the video? Unless the video is fake, it shows what actually happened and cannot obstruct investigation. It is more likely to assist the authorities. The authorities are not asked to say who is right or wrong yet. Our police or other authorities has no legal basis to demand that the video be withdrawn. It is a very strange action on their part unless the aim is to cover up but I don’t think that is the case.

I hope TR can send an objective report as the pictures are one-sided which shows only the China players hitting the Young Lions. Such reports may not gain the support of the general. O.o I don’t subscribe to the Straits times as it sometimes may be one-sided.

To all:
While I do empathise and understand our emotions run hugh and in relation to Ed’s note of tampering our choice of usage of words which may be construed as ‘innciting violene’, but I do wish to be allowed to sound some caution that all of us need not to go the other extreme that we are so fearful that certain words we can use in case may be judged as inciting violence to disrupt public order.
What as a lay person I can think of is, it is dependent on the context of the comments made, the situations arising relevant to remarks made.
So let us not be too ‘timid’ that every word which sounded agressive means it is a call to violence. Under PAP of course, 1 or 2 persons is also bordering on creating trouble for them – where is our fundamental rights???

TR, this is one of the most biased article I have seen in this forum! all the video clips or photos are selected to show readers that PRC players are hitting Sinkies young sheep!
Look at these posts above,TR,are attempting to incite violence/hatred against PRC by providing distorted reports?
Sg and Sinkies are not our PRC enemy. chinese in both countries have same culture and blood. No one, if he’s a true Sg patriot, should agitate local hostile to PRC.
Lost of Sg will not bring impact on China;Lost of China, or Making the whole PRC nationals hostile to Sg, will create disaster to this tiny island state.

retaliation is uncalled for…
both sides are equally wrong… TR, i urge you to tread carefully, your discourse over anti-immigration may soon be construed as anti-china chinese…and used as a platform to incite hatred against them… it would in turn make the chinese in china pissed..and nobody wants that kind of aggravation

@CHN PR Veteran, you blind or what? Sinkaporeans may be DAFT but certainly not blind. Cannot watch the video and draw own conclusions meh or you need to be spoonfed?
[The original video has been removed from Youtube because the person who recorded and uploaded the video clip was warned by the “authorities” to do so as the incident is still “pending investigations”. ]
What FIACKING RUBBISH the INCOMPETANT Police toking about? Whatever witnesses, and actions they can gather is in the video and out there.
With the Video online so what? Afraid that Public Pressure will force the Police to NOT cover up the incident when the TOP instruct them to cover issit?
If the Police investigation is FAIR & SQUARE, what concern if any is it to the Police if the video is online or not?
I fail to see the logic for the removal, anyone can suggest any?
Any players from the PRC Guoan team throwing punches should be charged under VCGH (Voluntarilly Causing Grevious Hurt with a dangerous Weapon) because ALL OF THEM from the GUOAN is HIGHLY SKILLED and TRAINED Martial Arts expert, so technically, their hand is considered to be “dangerous weapons” in ANY decent Court of Law not presided by Kangaroos, even in China!

I believe one shouldnt be against the whole PRC population in Singapore just because of these deeds by a minority of the PRCS . i have china scholars in my school and definitely they are friendly and amiable . So i feel that we shouldnt be prejudiced against them as a whole as those are just few isolated cases . And speaking of uncouth actions, it is pretty much the case of pot calling the kettle black as shown by many of the comments above using vulgarities and pretty much insults . And what the government do by bringing in PRC is not only helping Singapore to increase its talent pool and at the same time, forge good diplomatic relationship with China . Those people making nasty comments abt the government should rethink and take back their insensitive comments and give a rather more constructive opinion but if you think you can do better than what the current government is doing, so be it .

Just a tip of the ice-berg.
There are underlying fighting in the office, teams and gangs and individuals between Singaporeans versus Indians, Ang Mohs, Chinese and the Foreign Talents.
This is the result of our lax MIGRATION policy which we are asked to accept and welcome migrants and FT, PRs and given them citizenships freely.
It is a sad day and sad days ahead for Singaporeans and Singapore.

I have don’t issuse with chinese govt or chinese nationals.I belive the world large enough for all of us.Chinese nation is indeed an economic power, with good track record in olympics. But when it comes to soccer, they are not even in the Top Ten soccer teams in asia,It didn’t even qualify for world cup.
They have to resort to such measure’s to secure a win in this match, show’s lack of professionalisim. If our player’s were behaved in such a manner,he would be most likely to stripped with long term ban. This double standard’s is that something that bug me.
In our neighbourhood, coffee shop’s which we frequent the coffee shop
assisant’s used to be our singaporeon “aunty’s”,today they are replaced by chinese PRC ladies. The indian restraunt’s had come under
heavfire by some biased policy’s,for instance u can only hire waiter’s or kitchen assistant’s from china, macau, south korea, taiwan or malaysia. If you want hire from other counytry’s,their minum pay should be $1800 (I assusme a S-pass holder). This policy is made,to ensure china PRC’s secure jobs in this sector,as u see the employer know hiring anyone will have more higer overhead (the cost of labour and etc),the employers are forced to take in this chinese national,in this process many middle-age and elderly indian singaporen who have little education, the only thing they know is food industry, are being replaced. This trend is also seen in the IT industry in some banking indsutry (where FT indians are replacing the locals) and Hr departments ( pinoys are replacing the locals)

Both sides are at fault. It does not matter who started it, as that might be extremely subjective too.
It’s not a comparison of who threw the heavier punches and giving pity to the other side. I’ve seen ridiculously biased views in PRC forums – they simply support coz they are PRC. It takes 2 hands to clap, the tackle was hard and uncalled for, but confronting the players directly is asking for trouble. Crunching tackles are common in soccer, but rushing up to confront/push a player is not the norm and that is where the brawl started.

Excuse me you better be very very careful with your words…
Your statement here can be taken as “incite to public violence” by the local PAP Police Force/PAP Internal Security folks….
And by the way…please don’t call people monkeys…as it implies you are a racist bigot.
Nuts.
You will never undersand the below song…which proves truely how much of an “intellect” you are which LKY and his son in diapers LHL likes so much…

“During an interview with National Geographic magazine this year, PAP strongman Lee Kuan Yew said it is a “good thing” that Singapore is accepting so many Chinese immigrants (from mainland China) as they are more “hard-driving” and “hard-striving” than Singaporeans”
