The Secretary-General of the Reform Party (RP) has dismissed speculation that his party lacks candidates to contest in constituencies it has earmarked for the next General Election.
Shortly after the new electoral boundaries were redrawn, the RP announced that it would contest the single-seat wards of Pioneer, Hong Kah North and Radin Mas; including 2 five-member Group Representation Constituencies (GRC) - West Coast and Chua Chu Kang.
This meant that it has to field at least 13 candidates but following the resignation of at least 20 members from the party last month, rumours surfaced that it is short of candidates.
So far, the RP has only announced its candidates for two wards: Mr Jeyaretnam in Pioneer, and Central Executive Committee member Alec Tok in Radin Mas.
Dismissing the speculation, Kenneth Jeyaretnam reportedly told the Straits Times that the party is intending to contest in an additional ward, YuHua.

Being a fighter is only half a battle won,to win a war you have to roll with the punches and connect with those seasoned in this game.
Workers Party with Low and Chiam are old hands in this and its wise to connect with them for a winning team in a GRC.There will be no end to your uphill climb when people you promote and believe in turn their backs on you in the llth hour.
Coming from a western cultured family and spending most of your life overseas in the west puts you in a position where locals will find it difficult to understand where you are coming from.

Entry to Parliament to be heard should be TOP PRIORITY and I wish you God speed for this.

Even before the GE there is already a mass resignation of committee members from RP. Needless to say, there are other members who also resigned and not reported. This may the reason why RP cannot name any more candidates to date. The GE result for RP is “Has run the race”.

I read somewhere, RP currently has only 80 members. They need 13 candidates, so on the average there is only abt 5 members to support 1 candidate. I don’t know whether is that a possible feat at all, we are talking abt running a GE here, not some masak masak birthday party here. One or two clowns here have suggested that he is made in his father’s mould. What blindness! Go and read the true history of the RP. The ones who would have propelled the party forward inspired by the fire and idealism of JBJ have long left the party. His ‘first-class’ educational qualification did not teach him how to court them.

Just like I said earlier, the maths just don’t add up. For a party that boast of less than 100 members in total, KJ is boasting about running in 3 SMCs and 2 5-men GRCs. Mr RP Secretary General, do you know the amount of manpower, logistics and finance require for such a massive campaign? Since you used to be a fund manager, I’m sure you should be able to calculate better than any of us here.
I may not be an expert in running GE, but I can imagine the amt of resources needed. Even some bigger more establish party like SDP dare not plan so big. However since KJ has already made such claim, we shall see if he can deliver come nomination day. I certainly hope he does. Else he and his party’s credibility will be gone even before GE begins.

Now I can confirm not only is TR both anti-PAP and anti-WP, they are also anti-RP. How else would you explain the need to publish this article to wash RP’s dirty laundry in public and shatter the opposition’s aura? Both RP and NSP have indicated interest in CCK GRC and I think an SMC. In this case wonder who was the “innocent” party and who is the “aggressor” party in the recent defections. Before the news appeared in the mainstream media I had been told by an opposition source that NSP was only interested in CCK GRC in the event that RP would be unable to put together a team. In this case, therefore, no one is being a spoiler or a “problem child”. However, what is very telling is that within opposition circles there does not appear to be much confidence in some of the claims madee by a certain party. Like I keep on saying, let’s wait till Nomination Day.

BITE THE BULLET to FORCE a change back to total SMC system.
Solution is to VOTE OUT the ENTIRE team of PAP GRC candidates even if you prefer a certain minister (e.g. GCT) within them.
Only by this way will the people FORCE the ruling party to scrap the GRC system, and revert back to total SMC system.
If people continue to vote the PAP GRC team because of 1 anchor minister within, then voters are played into the TRICKS of GRC system. Useless candidate like Tin Pei Ling will continue to enjoy free rides.
My emphasis —– VOTE OUT the ENTIRE team of PAP GRC candidates to FORCE a change back to the total SMC system. Otherwise, PAP will continue to ABUSE the GRC system to include useless candidates like Tin Pei Ling.
