About 200 Singaporeans turn up at Hong Lim Park to protest against PAP’s pro-foreigner labor policies
About 200 Singaporeans turn up at Hong Lim Park this evening to protest against the PAP regime’s pro-foreigner hiring policies with many of them wearing black in solidarity with our local PMETs who have been displaced from their jobs by cheaper foreign workers.

The event was organized by Transitioning.org, an NGO dedicated to helping unemployed and retrenched Singaporeans and was the first event held at Hong Lim Park in the aftermath of the 2011 General Election.
Mr Gilbert Goh, the NSP candidate for Tampines GRC started the evening by calling on the PAP regime to adopt a ‘Singaporean first hiring policy’ like other First World countries. A white banner emblazoned with the words in red “Employ Singaporeans first” was hung behind.
According to Mr Goh, the lack of such a policy led to an unfair playing field in the labor market with employers having the upper-hand as they are able to recruit foreign workers who are willing to accept lower pay with ease.
He also highlighted how the ‘S’ and “E’ passes were abused by employers and agents alike to bring in more foreigners at the expense of Singaporeans.
Many of the participants at the event were young Singaporeans in their 20s and 30s. Also spotted among the crowd is NSP candidate for Pioneer and former NCMP Steve Chia.
We spoke to one couple June and Jason who are final year graduates in engineering at NUS. Jason expressed concern at the large numbers of foreign ‘engineers’ in Singapore:
“I am very worried about the job situation now as I heard from seniors that employers will use foreigners with Masters and years of experience to depress the wages of fresh graduates. Even with a first class honors, I don’t expect to get more than $2,900 monthly upon graduation.”
Retiree Poh Nam Seng was a NSP supporter who was there to lend support to Mr Goh.
“I think it’s good to highlight such issues again and again. The GE may be over, but the PAP must remember not to take Singaporeans for granted,” he said.
As a result of the PAP regime’s unthinking and indiscriminate pro-foreigner and ultra-liberal labor and immigration policies, the median income of Singaporeans have remained stagnant at $2,500 monthly while their domestic purchasing power has decreased to below that of the Malaysians.

When comparing GDP per capital to wages, Singapore is ranked very low. While this may look good for labour productivity the goverment should wise up and put in a 2 tier system instead of earning the FT salary from employers as levy and see the scheme as a GDP enhancement program. The word HAPPINESS should be a key KPI to be achieved by the govt. No one can be happy if poor and struggling to survive.

Gilbert Goh also shared a story about a big bank employing 188 IT personnel but only 2 of them are Singaporeans. Many of us also signed a petition to be forwarded to MOM to employ more Singaporeans and to adopt a ” Singaporean First” policy.
PS: Gilbert also promised to organize the next event 3 months from today. Hopefully, more supporters will turn up.

FT/FW should be taxed more, even if it is a bit more. Companies employing FT/FW should also be taxed more. FT/FW should be asked to pay more when using public healthcare. FT/FW can buy private property but not HDB flats, not even HDB resale flats. Male FT/FW who wants to become citizens should serve NS if they are below 40 years old. Foreign students given scholarship should serve at least 8 years in Singapore, if not they need to pay back the scholarship. I married a China Chinese, but I still feel there should be a difference in treatment between FT/FW who truly want to stay long-term in Singapore and contribute long-term and those opportunistic FT/FW who are just here to dig fortune.

A couple named June and Jason mentioned in this article must take note of the following.
The latest QS World University ranking by Engineering disciplines ranked NUS amongst the top 10 in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Chemical Engineering. NUS is also ranked amongst the top 12 in Computer Science.
No other Asian universities are ranked higher than NUS by the QS Survey.
EMPLOYERS ENGAGING CHEAP FOREIGN TALENTS FROM INDIA AND CHINA MUST TAKE NOTE OF THIS!
Even the best amongst the foreign engineering talents working here are educated in NUS. They are here mainly on temporary assignments to fulfil their “Bond Requirement.”
EMPLOYERS IN SINGAPORE MUST BE EDUCATED TO UNDERSTAND THAT AN UNDERGRADUATE HONOURS ENGINEERING DEGREE FROM NUS IS ACCREDITED BY ENGINEERING INSTITUTIONS IN UNITED KINGDOM AS AN EQUIVALENT TO THE UK MASTER OF ENGINEERING DEGREE!

We will have no end of such problems unless we get the right job match for our ministers and top policy makers. I have great difficulty explaining to a foreign visitor why Singapore has a government that is run by:
- a Doctor in charge of Defense
- an ex-Navy man in charge of Land Transport
- an ex-Policeman in charge of Education
- an ex-Military man in charge of Youth and Sports
- an ex-Hospital Administrator in charge of the nation’s Real Estate
- an Engineer in charge of Healthcare
- another doctor in charge of flood prevention
- yet another ex-Military man soon to be in charge of Labour
I tried to explain that we have talented leaders and that our very first parliament was also made up of political rookies and many of the old guards had proven themselves in the past.
The visitor pointed out that we are well into our 12th Parliament and the government should be over and done with the trial-and-error by now. I finally succumbed to his reasoning when he added “…. and how is your good doctor going to keep his Hippocrates Oath while he discharges his duty as Defense Minister?”

Beyond words during and after election, there is nothing yet to be seen from policies or actions of the Government.
More can be done quotas etc, limitation. The influx of FT or foreign workers has not helped locals. Whatever little jobs created, the demand on space etc, has resulted in increase in cost and lower spending power. While it looks good on the economic statistics and perhaps Ministers salaries benchmarked to GDP, who else benefits.
Explaination of policies will not help those displaced, policies to include should provide for real work opportunities and income. Occasional growth shares to reward all for growth do not give work and the very myopic text book policy to start immigration via young FTs from abroad has limited opportunities for our children, except for the very good amongst our children. The sheer fact that allocation of limited resources like university places as practises by the government through bringing in foreigners to compete equally with our locals has on obvious trade off. If the objective of the Government is to improve the lifes of it’s people, one cannot understand why. There is no long term as the economists say as in the longer term, we are all dead.
Thus it is not acceptable to say that the influx of foreigners will create growth and with that jobs. We have seen growth and increase in jobs, but only jobs on paper!

Do you believe the MNCs to have the desire to employ locals with higher cost? Never!! My brother works in one Japanese NMC which has good relationship with the MM LKY who helped to open the company’s expansion building and his company has many foreign affliates (branch offices in the region). Their salary is so low that the local engineers are relunctant to get jobs which mostly taken up by the engineers in the regional offices. They come to Singapore to work, getting much better than in their home office due to overseas attachment. The company just keeps applying EP for them. Now their office is full of engineers from their affliates.
They also try to employ engineers and managers from India with a lower pay as their motive rests on taking the coming to Singapore as a stepping stones for their move to better salary in another company or country which they get better packages.
With each person they get from oversea, it deprives the chance of local.
The government’s policy might have a ratio, but is the ratio applying to the right group of people, or simply the all in company. For the latter, their many local in finance, HR, administration, logistic.. where FTs are few. But in engineering, more than 70% are FTs. Overall, the company should might the requirement. Does government care if local engineers are the group that suffer.

IT WAS A GOOD ATTEMPT TO GET PEOPLE TOGETHER TO DISCUSS THEIR CONCERNS AND FEARS REGARDING THE EMPLOYMENT OF FOREIGNERS.
FROM WHAT I COULD SURMISE,THE CONCERN OF THE PEOPLE IS THAT THE FOREIGNERS ARE TAKING UP NOT THE EXCESS JOBS IN THE ECONOMY BUT ARE INSTEAD BEING EMPLOYED CHEAPLY BY THE UNSCRUPULOUS EMPLOYERS TO BRING DOWN COST,THEREBY DEPRESSING SALARIES,BY BEING CHEAPER COMPETITORS TO LOCAL WORKERS.

Black is BEST, let’s make it BLACK for our SUNDAY BEST. BLACK for NATIONAL DAY, BLACK for DEMOCRACY DAY. BLACK for MAY DAY, organise a protest every week by civil society. Let’s see how they are going to listen. Or do they only listen when the ISD drops in stealthily, are they so used to subverting us that when we shout out loud in the open, they shut their ears? Why else do we not have a free press? If they honestly want to hear, they will allow demonstrations, free press, independent media. How can PAP hear anything if they disallow freedom of speech?????
Wish they could stop their wayang. Unfortunately most readers of SHIT TIMES, NUDE Paper, Toady Paper, can only think the way PAP have trained them to think, within the little box they inked for 50 years.

If they do not dramatically respond to our united request for change, there will be an implosion because the more than 40% and the more than 30% who are too scared to vote them out, but who are nonetheless no less vehement, will not be able to withstand another 5 years of repressive and irresponsive rule.
PAP garmen increased minimun CPF sum as well as medisave sum and there was hardly any whimper. It means they are increasingly making it difficult for small business to operate, everytime someone wants to renew their business license they are forced to put money into the medisave otherwise they cannot renew. As one of those who cant keep putting money into the Central Pilfering Fund, my license ended. Now my bank has threatened to close the business account as well.
All because the increase in minimum sum means that i have to pay thousands per year into medisave to reach minimum sum which is ever increasing per year, (like a shifting target). this prohibitive sum eats into business costs.
The list of those marginalised goes on and on. The PAP does not mind how they have disenfranchised every singaporean group because they are only interested to raise the amount of foreign reserves to ensure it earns enough to pay for their top of the world salaries, bonuses (even when they lost money), perks and contracts. Think how much the YOG lost? LOST? No, we lost, they gained. All their cronies, contractors, and tenderers, advertisers, service providers are laughing all the way to the bank. WE LOST. All that money shifted to THEM. That’s why they dont lose their job when they make big losses, because the profit is transferred to them.

The Bus driver is a PRC, too. I’m wondering why SBS or TransitLink hire so many PRC drivers, when they kick out all the Singaporean drivers aged 40 plus….This is very sad. If this happens many lives will be lost and many more will be injured seriously. We cannot be complacent. I hope the matter do not escalate to a point where the natives feel that they have nothing more to lose, become bitter and angry. Hungry stomachs know no fear.

Sad to say even if the got stop importing so called “FT” now its already too late. There are already so many of them here.
The govt has to review work passes or PRs and regulate restrictions to stop employers hiring cheap labour over locals.
The only way to solve FT problem is if the PAP were voted out or not given majority to form the 2/3 in Parliament.
Its a shame 60% of electorate didnt see that.
The older generation, new citizens, and riches vote always vote the PAP. But once LKY is gone..it may be a different story. So next election may be the make or break for opp party and PAP.

Out of the 60%, about 30% to 40% will switch by the next election if they continue at the current rate.
The moral ground is important and alienation will happen again, if benchmark for ministers is on private sector,
Whatever the discounts. The goodwill gained through more than 4o years of trust will be weighed.
The voting by the next election, if Government don’t handle it right and address the issuse including the censuring of it’s MPs will be one very clearly divided into classes. The very grounds which enabled PAP to rise to power will work against it. It will be one of trying alternatives since there is no difference.
However, the current temperature is very hot. Comments from MPs, while speaking frankly what they think and in their hearts just infuriate the public. The disconnect is very real and one wonders if it can gel.
It is very real as there are no solutions beyond talks that jobs are being looked at, when the first thing the Cabinent did was to study their own remuneration when to most the benchmark should be public sector and officials pay in other countries. As leaders, shoul not this come last while jobs for all the Lower levels proceed. Matter of priority or substance of leadership?

Give PRs a minimum year to take up citizenship or their status taken back.
Disallow PRs to purchase HDB flats.
Job priority should be given to Singaporeans, do not allow the employers to use this to their advantage to pit against Singaporeans to achieve their agenda.
In crunch time, PRs or FTs can just pack and go leaving us, Singaporeans, to face the diffculties as in year 1997.
I am very disturbed, demoralised, confused, miserable and with agoniies as to why must we put up with many negative cultures the FTs bring into Singapore along with them.
Kids have to ballot for schools against foreigners.
We have to squeeze in public transport with FTs
We have to put up with the exhorbitant HDB prices because of PRs.
Why ??? Have we no Pride and Dignity as Singaporeas in our sovereign homeland ? Are we just ICE at the bottom of the food chain and accept whatever the pappies or employers give us and still be grateful ?

The govt is happy because they grow GDP to peg it to their bonus! They dont give two hoots over happiness of locals or foreigners for that matter. The foreigners are exploited for their agenda while the citizens are overlooked completely just so that they can obtain their objective of HIGH PAY AND HIGH BONUS.

All PRCs are idiotic, ungrateful, greedy and shameless people. PRC women study and work as “CHICKENS” in Geylang and karoke. PRC mothers bring their children here to study also work as “CHICKENS”.
PRC women marry Singapore men to get PR and citizenship and suck on our Native Men’s BLOOD MONEY and divorce them when their pockets are empty. Then they work as “CHICKENS” again to hook for more RICH men.
China has the world’s biggest “CHICKEN FARM” producing so many CHICKENS and importing into Singapore.
WARNING
Native Men, don’t eat chickens from China, you will be sucked dry by the deadly “CHINA CHICKEN FLU” !!

The way I see it – it is a GOOD start.
We are not talking about political protest.
This is a civil protest about issue close to the heart of citizens. Citizens losing out their jobs to FT and FW should not happen in a country where people pay thru their nose for a Govt to rule wisely but got stupid rules.

It is not so much the number but the intention to draw attention to a serious problem. Slow and steady can win the race and right into GE2016.
Has the message been taken in? These are not NOISES but genuine concerns for both current and future generations of Singaporeans.
Singaporeans’ interest must first be protected either socially, politically or economically.

Actually this rally is to help the ruling party! This is indeed a wake up call to the party that their current tripartie arrangement is wrong!
There should not be a minister in-charge of the labour unions. Unions are for Unionists! If the minister likes to be a unionist, he should resign from the government. He should not have the cake and eat it!
If the government is afraid unionists will lead strikes, riots, and block the streets and city scapes and burn buildings and buses and destroy properties, it can set up laws outlawing strikes and allow protests in Hong lim green, what do you think?.

I am a Singaporean, born and bred and served my NS with pride. I would like to hire more Singaporeans for my company but alas I find foreigners’ attitude to be much better. They don’t interview me and ask me silly questions like how far is the office from the nearest MRT station, how many months of bonus do we pay at the end of the year, how days of sick and annual leave they will get. All this before we discuss about his or her skill set and whether it fits the job.
Also, Singaporeans do not call when ahead to say they are not turning up for interviews or the first day of work, after having accepted the job. I am not saying foreigners don’t do that; they do, it is just rare. For Singaporeans, it is very common. Too common for my liking. Where is the common courtesy? It is like occupying the seat reserve for the old and the handicap on the train when you are not supposed to. Please, let’s be more “tze tong”. Have some pride and do the right thing.
In the old days, when we first started flying on SIA, we would take the cutlery for souvenirs. Now that travelling on SIA is passe, we do not even want to take the cutlery anymore. Let’s try to be more courteous. If you cannot turn up for a scheduled interview or change your mind about the job, call. It is the right thing to do.

It is a very unhappy situation that singaporeans are being penalised for being singaporeans.
We have a pap ’state’ that does not care why singaporeans cannot take a lower pay ( having a flat, family, kids, old parents to support in singapore) whereas foreigners only need to rent a flat and share with 10 countrymen.
We really do not want these kind of leaders anymore.

Dear singaporeans,
After GE2011, it just too late to “complaint” to PAP.
Next GE2016, you WILL see stronger pork barrel politics, gerrymandering, fear mongering.
This GE2011 being the largest voters since independence, our Electoral Board will have FULL statistics on where are pro PAP voters residing. Gerrymandering will be at it’s widest imagination!
PAP will get back it’s votes by hook or by crooks !

Most Singaporeans only take care of their own courtyard rather than lending a helping hand to the jobless country men and women. Until we see all Singaporeans totally being replaced including civil servants would there be more unity to protest for public policies against the interest of Singaporeans. May God bring justice and unity to all Singaporeans who are betrayed and suffering under the selfish party that only takes care of it’s own pocket without shame.

The situation has yet to reach that state.
Violence is not the answer.
If anyone resorts to violence you will destroy the country which,I believe,we all love.
For anyone who has dreams of violence just remember the Communist Party of Malaya.Did it succeed? Was it doing the right thing?
If violence was the answer Singapore would not be what it is!
By saying this kind of irrational things we will be actually tarnishing the image of legitimate dissent. Please refrain from this kind of remarks before it gets out of hand and is used by the PAP to suppress legitimate expression of alternative views.
Under the guise of annonymity it is easy to be irresponsible. The real test of bravery is when you openly declare your identity along with your views.

Wars do not solve problems.
If wars could solve problems Israel would be at peace today. Is it?
War could not solve the problem in Afghanistan or Libya or Korea for that matter.
Having a shallow understanding of the world can lead to a lot of wrong decisions being taken.
Just remember, all wars are ended through peace treaties.Peace treaties are negotiated through diplomacy. If diplomacy can be used to negotiate a settlement in the first place there never would be the need for the violence and suffering of war.
All philosophers have stated unequivocally diplomacy is superior to war.We should learn from this.

Better still. Force your foreign workers to work 14 hours a day, 6 days a week -> that’s 84 hours a week, almost twice of the legal limit of 44 hours a week and you won’t find them complaining to MOM.
And try this, you can get away with it, I assure you. Stop employing cleaning ah mah for your office and get your foreign workers to do it. Tell them that it’s part of your office rules that they have to clean toilets too (see, save you another $1000 per month). You can put them on duty roster. They won’t quit and they won’t complain to MOM also… LOL!
Bro, use your brain and do some deeper thinking lah why they can be so nice and so obliging to you… oh, if you want to try the above, try on new foreign workers – that is, those fresh out from their home countries esp those on social visit passes looking for jobs in Singapore.

the situation in sillypore nt so dire yet. really.
do you see sillyporeans beating up pinoy for stealing their jobs and chinkies for stealing their husbands and boyfriends…?
no, right?
i assure you. foreign talents are very much appreciated by most sillypreans in general. these pinoys and chinkies and indies are made to feel very much welcome by all.
that much change maybe when some FTs are specially targeted to be bashed, raped, torture, killed.
unlike in australia, where indian students are targeted, some killed quite regularly and still no action by the police.
resulting in very big drop in students coming from india now
but i think sillyporeans are scared shitless and still have everything to lose. they don’t dare to do any of that.
they probably can’t even fight at all even after doing NS.

Dear TR Readers,
Thanks to those 200 fearless Singaporeans who showed up at the Employ Singaporeans First event at Hong Lim Part yesterday.
Thanks also to the TR editors for helping us to spread the word about Black Saturday event.
I am very proud of you and more so when I realised that more than half of you are employed and were there to show your support to our jobless fellow Singaporeans. Kudos to you!
I have compiled the 100 signatures that signed on the petition to Emply Singaporeans First and will personally hand it over to DPM Tharman at his office.
I felt that the event have achieved a few aims:-
1. Singaporeans came out in unity to support an event that matters to many other fellow jobless Singaporeans. I feel that this patriotism and selfless behaviour needs to be encouraged and applauded.
2. Singaporeans wanted more of such events and hopefully we can plan a monthly event but we need the numbers to show up so that we can continue fruitfully and with confidence. I am happy with the turn out of 200 for a first time event though and hope to see about 300 to show up for our second event.
3. Singaporeans want to be better engaged and they yearn for platforms to discuss and debate policies that affect their lifestyle and livelihood. We will look for people to start the think tank sessions and put up relevant solution-based papers to submit to the relevant ministries. If the application to join such think tank sessions grow too big, we may even plan for a larger indoor event such as a forum-based kind of session. Details will be out on such sessions soon.
4. After the recent GE, I realised that citizens are now more politically aware of national issues and ready to spend some time talking about it in a relevant safe platform. We will continue to plan for such sessions in the near future to better engage the people as there is really little that is going on right now on a consistent basis.
Personally, its a milestone for me as transitioning.org is run on a shoestring budget with a few volunteers heliming the services.
Obviously we have ran ahead of our agenda and cherish all who can volunteer their services with us to do so.
Please write to [email protected] stating in what capacity you can volunteer with us. We need counsellors, coaches, logistical specialists, writers, employers who want to employ Singaporeans and event organisers to join our small team of volunteers.
You don’t need to be scholarly or very capable to join us but we do need Singaporeans who want to help other fellow Singaporeans to sign up with us.
Thanks again and see you for the next transitioning.org event!

Political Observer(Quote):
“Out of the 60%, about 30% to 40% will switch by the next election if they continue at the current rate.
The disconnect is very real and one wonders if it can gel.”
=====================================================================
An astute observation!
Any party in power for so long would face the same problem.Look at UMNO in Malaysia,Indian National Congress in India,Chinese Communist Party in China as parallel examples.Originally they were all led by idealistic and patriotic people who wanted to do some good for the people and country.
With the passage of time the need to be patriotic or altruistic got watered down and ego and greed took over.
Most of the leaders started off by by trying to recreate a ruling elite in their countries which had mostly been destroyed in them by the colonising powers ,or had become subservient to them in order to save their positions or wealth.
This old elites who had co operated with the colonialists, through their long experience at sycophancy, infilterated the Nationalist Movements and took over from the idealists as they slowly died of or introduced the living once to wealth and corruption.
In Singapore,we did not have a pre-existing elite to speak of.So it had to be created.Unfortunately it slowly evovled such that serving the people and being patriotic, were not the main criteria looked for in the candidates.
Blind subservince to the leadership as well as yesmanship became the criteria for inclusion,as well as a moneyed background. So what we have is an elite that has no connetion to the poor and cannot understand their needs and problems because they always judge the feasibility of any suggested solution only in terms of money.
Because of their education, and the continued stress by the PAP over the years, they have become a ONE MANTRA group that feels that the only solution to poverty and the needs of the needy is hard work, training and retraining, compleiy forgetting that the upward movement has left a lot of people behind and the changes in society has left these people helpless.
As if that was not enough we had Goofy come along with his koyok sale of the SWISS STANDARD.By his goofy ideas about ASSET ENHANCEMENT he pushed up the prices of HDB so high that they have become more pricier than SWISS PROPERTIES!
What little money that was in the CPF was sucked into the GOVERNMENT COFFERS never to be seen again. If any thing was left for retirement it was held back as the minimum sum.So we have a situation where a lot of people are living hand to mouth and a Government seen to be obscenely rich!
Now the question before us is-where do we go from here?
There are two scenarios:
1. The PAP will still stick to its guns and be of the opinion that it knows best.It will handle the problems the way it thinks can be solved best and give the usual brush off to outsider views.
If that happens the people will not be pacified and will be left with no choice but to try and boot it out in the next elections.
2. The PAP examines the results of the last elections with an open mind and hears the voice of the people. It has a mindset change and lowers the prices of new HDB houses ,maybe, with a built in clause that the buyer must hold it for a minimum period and can only sell it if he wants to buy private property.
It also examines the needs of the older citizens, who have contributrd to the economy all their working lives, and uses a part of the income from the Reserves, which after all is the money accumulated during their working lives.
It also addresses the problem of the foreigners who are employed here by unscrupulous employers as a cheaper alternative to local workers.
It also realises the importance of the opposition as a legitimate arm of politics and views its input as a valuable rather than something to be destroyed in anyway possible.
It also needs to look at the infrastructure of the country with an open mind and find some innovative solutions and stop the ministres from giving reasons which only enrage the citizens.
And most importantly,it has to learn to share political power with good grace and move away from the idea that only it has the right to rule,or aspire to rule.
If this happens it will bode well for Singapore, and the people might still consider handing the reins of power to the PAP.
It is a tall order.Let’s see if they can rise up to it!

Does the MNCs owe us a living? No
Does the MNCs contribute tax? Yes
Can our local engineers perform R&D, Setup and run our own MNCs instead of relying on other MNCs to give us job?
Can we as local engineers or local talents created business entity such as Sony, Apple, General Electric, Airbus, Swiss Bank so that we become the master and they become the worker?
Why we keep complaining the shit MNCs own us this owe us that and we do not have the guts, drive, courage like Japanese & German( who being defeated during world war II )to reborn from ashes to become dominating world economy power?
Why after all our local engineers after going through the university program still fails to realize that they should be the one that should take the lead to create wealth and jobs for our less fortunate Singaporeans. Instead having this illusion that we are “engineer” or “PMET” and so we deserve this and that.
I like Singaporean first…. but tell me where, how, when, why, what, who to do it Singaporean first concept without being hang by the neck of the MNC or foreigner or FT.
Can we be realistic to start from the most needed…. Let forms a construction work force with your volunteer ( of course paid salary of your choice ) for our belove Singaporean of homeless, single mother and young couple….. build our own house…… This will immediately drive all the foreigner FT, WP, EP and PMET back home.
I am sure with this commitment that we shows to our government, we are not play play…. Any foreigner do, we can do better
Anyone care to volunteer?

Of course MNCs pay taxes. They not only get preferential tax rates, they are also now taking advantage of the cheaper FTs that the PAP encourage.
PAP is into all sorts of businesses, into supermarkets, into insurance, into financial investments, into security business etc. etc.
PAP competes with local small businesses. A few provision stores in Bedok South closed shop. I asked a few of them. And the answer is the same. The Government competes with us in supermarkets – how do we compete with the Government.
When times are bad, PAP tells Singaporeans that we should not depend on the Government. We should not expect the Government to hold our hands. We should think out of the box. How are we to do that, when the Government is into every sort of businesses. How do we compete with the Government.
My son spent 2 and half years in NS. Wasted time. (By the way, my Swiss friends told me they do only 6 months NS in their country) Besides physical training, most of the time in NS was doing nothing. No papers or magazines to read (not allowed) , nothing to stimulate him intellectually in. He even escaped death from a gun shot by the skin of his hair because those giving instructions during field training were not much older than he was. He was also paid pittance for the time spent in NS.
When he went to Uni, it was a trying time to get back into studies. He graduated in Finance and Economics.
When he went out to work for a couple of Banks, he reported to foreigners. The first Bank he worked in, his supervisor was a foreigner, 2 years younger than he was and getting double what he was paid. The guy did not have to do NS in his country. The 2nd boss that he worked with was a young Hong Kong lady. He was so fed up to see so many foreigners holding all the better positions, he decided to migrate. He said if I feel I am a 2nd class citizen in my own country, I would rather migrate. He did, and he is now very happy.
His roots are in Singapore. It had not been easy for him to leave his country but he had no alternative but to do so.
Everywhere in the world and even working with foreigners in Singapore, I always hear low opinions made of Singaporeans. Our children have been brought up in such regimented ways in schools and in National Service, it is hard for them to think out of the box, it is hard for them to be creative. And all this is the fault of the PAP Government. With such fat pay they receive, Singaporeans can’t even walk the world holding their heads high.
We have become a laughing stock to our Asian neighbours as well as the Western World. So LKY, LHL, GCT – did you do a good joy. No. For so many years you were in Government and we Singaporeans are not regarded highly. YOU FAILED!

There are two kinds of people that turn “HATE” into:
1st Kind – Turning “HATE” into energy, spirit and drive that from this moment onwards, will strive to be self sustaining first and thereby giving humanity and compassion to other less fortunate. But first, have to move out from the comfort zone and removing the idea of relying on others to give.
If you want to take back what you feel been taken away. do something. Even if you vote out or vote in whichever government, they not going to guarantee you a job / career / future that you wanted.
If you start giving other the job / career / future… You are the master
2nd Kind ) Keep on shouting ” I hate this and I hate there” still waiting somebody to provide one what one are hoping for. When one do not get it, the drive of “HATE” goes deeper and eventually destroy no only one self sufficient but a destructive force to people around him / her.
Does it sound familiar when one teenage kid shouted back to one parents and say “I hate you this and that…”
THINK HARD…. IF YOU HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY TO HATE….AND IT IS REALLY TIRING TO HATE…. WHY NOT CHANNEL THIS ENERGY FOR CONSTRUCTIVE THINGS…. EITHER CHANGE A CAREER LINE…… BE A VOLUNTEER IN OPPOSITION…… OR…..TAKE A GOOD LOOK IN THE JOB MARKET…….
YOU CAN PULL A FRANCHISE WITH A FEW FRIENDS OR ANYTHING AND BECOME YOUR OWN BOSS AND HIRING SINGAPOREANS…. THEN YOU CAN SERVE THE FELLOW SINGAPOREANS……. BUT FIRST, EXIT YOUR COMFORT ZONE…… ANY COMFORT ZONE THAT YOU FIND WILL COME TO A DEAD END SOMEDAY.
