We (or rather ‘They’) have a commission in place to review the Elected Presidency (EP) process. One of the most glaring change is the 500mil threshold to qualify. Reason being that ‘we’ need someone with lots of financial experience.
If that $500mil is the threshold, shouldn’t the folks selected to be in that review commission, each of the members have a $500mil minimum ‘experience themselves to make the recommended changes?
Fair enough, in the commission, there were some CEO of big shots GLC or big companies that depend on PAP govt for business (with $500 mil experience) chaired by Chief Justice Menon (sorry he has no $500 mil experience…). No one in the council represents the average Singaporean…. They are all high flyers linked to govt or GLC. Zero successful entrepreneurs (who are more creative and self starters).
And who are those in that council? GLC or big companies that depend on PAP govt for business. Again – Zero entrepreneurs (who are more creative and self starters) In the end the EP is required “to consult the Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) when performing some of his functions”.
I HAVE A DREAM! Martin Luther King or Nelson Mandela did not have $500mil experience. Yet they became great leaders. Only in Singapore, we need $500mil ‘experience’ to cut ribbons and pose for photos…..
But… hey, I am just an average small Joe Singaporean. I may have a dream…. but I will need $500mil ‘experience’ to back it up.
