Our tax payers are paying top dollar for ministers and MPs to represent our interests in parliament. But after watching the recent footages of parliamentary debates, I notice the parliament is full of empty seats. Can anyone tell me why? Is this the kind of robust debates that the PAP keeps telling voters that we don’t need oppositions anymore, we can count on their MPs and NMPs to do the robust debates. And to my observations, it is always Workers Party and their NCMPs raising questions on the policies, especially on the 30% water price hike proposal. So who are these MPs who are collecting $16000 a month and always missing in action? It looks like MP job is quite lucrative, just show face when ask to vote on policy and at other times, do not have to show up and still collect fat pay cheque for their part time work.
Secondly, I notice white party MPs don’t really ask questions. Aren’t they supposed to defend our interest and debate to ensure policies benefit the mass? This is a very strange parliament, MPs don’t ask much questions, to the extent one even said raising water price is to create awareness. Don’t you think its a joke?
Next, why we have so many foreign bornt ministers who never served NS or been doctrined sufficiently? So perhaps we should have a FT PM in future?! You hear strange answers from these bunch, such that they even tell you water price hike will not ripple effect other basic necessities. Even an “O” level student will know this is not true. This is the kind of quality ministers we have in parliament?
Even the dumb man on the street knows the hike of water is to build more desalination plants to cater to 10M population. All other price hikes of basic necessities, GST, COE, Satellite ERPs et cetera are probably to help build infrastructure for 10M and or to cover the bigger black hole of massive losses?
This country is getting strange, half empty parliaments, one sided debates, stupid illogical answers and can win 70% mandate. 70%, is this what you want?
