Fengshan CC offers ‘AED Awareness Curse’ course?

When it comes to the People’s Action Party (PAP), nothing should surprise Singaporeans anymore as it is famous for ‘inventing aka innovating’ anything that can be invented under the Moon, from “negative wealth added” to “ponding”.

In its latest ‘invention aka innovation’, it appears that Fengshan CC (under the PAP of course) has decided to recruit foreign talents from possibly Thailand to offer a course on ’AED Awareness Curse’.

These foreign talents are believed to be renowned Bomohs since they are the only ones who can teach anyone how to ‘curse’.

It is currently not known what sort of curse ‘AED Awareness’ is about, maybe seeking love, sex, money or stealing other people’s lunch?

For those who are interested, please act fast cause “register is on a first-come-first served basis“.

Contrary to common misconceptions, the Govt wants it’s citizens to live on and on, hence the establishing of such “curses”. They need all the “hocus pocus” votes they can get, even if it means having to resuscitate and defibrillate all of their “nearly there” voters !!!

It is fine for FT to make mistakes when their superior is also a FT. It is not fine for Singaporean to make mistake when our government has zero tolerance to Singaporean.

  • Dinners are just dinners:

Almost no one local really knows how to use the AEDs and almost no one dares to use in a real incident.

Even all these many security personnel and receptionists (even receptionists at clinics, let alone ordinary receptionists) either all don’t know or don’t dare to use.

These AEDs are just largely for show and collecting dust. There may be a preparedness to spend on this new hardware but no preparedness to spend money or time training security personnel, receptionists, HR personnel and volunteers on how to use the AEDs and how to be brave enough to use the devices.

Even if there are curses or courses to train people, you will typically find locals will mechanically learn but still not know how to deal with real life situation and still will not dare use it outside the classroom.

It is perhaps like the incident when a local boy who drowned and foreigner woman who swam to rescue three others who were struggling. You will not get so many locals daring to rescue a drowning kid. Similarly the culture here is not to stick your neck out to rescue someone suffering. So not many locals will dare break out the AED and use it – maybe many just fear damaging it. They will rather whip out their mobile phones and video the sufferer in agony and wait for a foreigner to do the rescue work.

    Why like that?

Maybe coz of regimented education system under semi-dictatorial regime, no one dares to stick their neck out for fear of getting hanged or stepping out of line.

The solution is maybe more lessons on AED use and more realistic training and practice (not just in classroom setting) with more discussion and explanation (not just rote learning) – either by schools, colleges and universities, during training for sports events and NDP, during NS, as part of the driving test (practical), and when one starts a new job or even as part of exit when one leaves a job, and for foreigners – before they get issued their FIN card. Free vouchers could be given out to those who want to attend curses or courses.

Apart from AED, an idea is to have cool patient bags (material much like supermarket or picnic cool bags) which could be whipped out of fridges or which have pockets where ice could be filled. Once the suffered is stabilised, he could be placed in the bag and this would lower body temperature and can help survival rates. These easy to use cool patient bags could be located next to AEDs that are at or near coffee shops, cafes, restaurants and ice cream parlours and also cold vending machines where ice is readily available. Arrangement would have to be made with proprietors to provide free ice in emergency situations where an ambulance is called. Training to use the cool patient bags could be at the same time as training on AED use.
