‘Sad’ and ‘embarrassing’ only?

In Parliament on Tuesday, Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan repeatedly described the Oct 7 flooding incident as “sad” and “embarrassing” (Khaw outlines plans to prevent flooding of MRT tunnels again; Nov 8).

The impression I get from this is that the seriousness of the situation did not fully dawn on the minister.

“Sad” and “embarrassing” do not at all describe the situation accurately. The incident could have been tragic, with lives lost. We know that the trains run on rails that carry electricity. Water and electricity don’t mix without causing a disaster.

If passengers had to alight from the stranded cars in the flooded tunnel to escape the rising waters, can we assume that they would not have been electrocuted?

Anyone with some inkling of the situation on the ground would not have used mild words like “sad” and “embarrassing”.

1st, sad and embarrassing. if it was any other, then, this malaysian S$8 would have said hara-kiri.

2nd, this malaysian S$8 cow is very fake. other than being fake and collecting S$m from taxpayers, why does he care about seriousness of the flooding. flood no flood he collects S$m from his buddy clown prince. everyday he is telling najib what a good life he is having courtesy of clown prince.

3rd, if any passenger gets electrocuted, malaysian S$8 cow knows he is safe. because all he needed to do is to talk liang san po and madam butterfly and deflect everything to that worker who didn’t inspect the pumps. and the paper general dismount quack is so grateful to him that they all agree heartily, yah, that worker is responsible.

4th, do not use words like sad and embarrassing? malaysian S$8 cow asks, are you kidding? he says, remember the mandate I received. the mandate means what I am doing, all the lies I am saying, are approved.

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
pap says ownself check ownself. hard to believe pap can do so. since right upfront they broke the rule about inside polling station is not within 200m of polling station. they also broke the rule about presidency reserved for malay by selecting an INDIAN. lying pap. one country two systems. WTF.

What is sadder, is that, in iconic SG that has given the world, the Merlion and Singlish, Khaw represents the best that the bleeding red dot can offer up as a Min of Transport.

And even more embarrassing and inexcusable is the fact that he’s still in his bleeding job !!!

Dr Lee must be joking. It is already “sad and embarrassing” why make it worse (“dig a deeper hole” for SMRT and PAP) by saying it was also dangerous.

Must never forget the words alien to PAP and its highly-paid stooges: openness, transparency, responsibility and accountability.

Their favourite words are: “spin” and money.

That Great Lady Ivy Singh-Lim recently has blasted that SMRT Chairman Moon Bugger for BOWING like a Japanese in front of the press and public. Understand Chairman Moon Bugger is recommended(NOT volunteered or parachuted)by Minister $8Cow HIMSELF. Looks like Ah Moon is sapoing and eating all the shits on behalf of the $8Cow and Demon Quack! So for performing this Noble Bowing gesture, will Moon’s chairmanship fees and bonuses quietly double or triple this year end? What do you think?

DR THOMAS LEE, didn’t ‘what-do-you-think” advised trapped commuters this advice – years ago during the Orchard Road MRT train halt debacle in near total darkness – (IF RESCUE DON’T COME) just follow the rules and march out on your own to safety.

I wasn’t much impressed nor amused by this extent of great intellect of wisdom advice. Why? In times of crisis and dangers, you just follow THE RULES on the wall of walking to safety (or electrocution death or fire trap??) on their own??

IF THE FARKING RULES EVER WORKED CORRECTLY AND SAFELY, HOW COME THE CRISIS EVENTUATES? In crisis and dangers, the thought off simplistic rules are OFTEN THE MOST DANGEROUS because it is failures of these rules which underpin the causation of failures and dangers that germinates from that.

Just imagine this – if law enforcement “follow the rules” of gunning down drunkard rioters at Little India to enforce law and order, I can almost speculate that the use of disproportionate force there (FORTUNATELY CALM MIND PREVAILED THEN AND THERE) would have ignite a match fire into an island-wide inferno which the entire resources of Singapore Fire Brigade won’t be able to contain.

It’s all about their own hurts.

It’s all just a show as usual.

Must people die before there is such public scrutiny?
Would there be one if people Had died?

So far we hear of 3 problems:
    1. lieing about work
    2. “cultural” differences in the SMRT
    3. nasty relationship betw SMRT and LTA.
We have no details about what all this actually means.
They are just vague statements. Like the AGC’s “advice” about
the elected presidency. Their purpose seems to be to throw
one off track about the real situation.
They also hint, heavily, there is quite a horror story being hidden.

An apology simply does not cut it.
Neither do an audit and a few dismissals of low-ranked folk.
Are there really no honest, responsible people out there?
Has it really reached this stage?

The problem lies in obsession with bottom-line.
Saw PH was brought in as they thought she could bring in big profits with shops and eateries.
But she brought in a lot of rats as well. These rats have managed to find their way to the wiring in the tunnels.
Be prepared for lots of short circuits and more break-downs.
I can only pray that the short-circuits do not cause massive uncontrollable fires.

By the way, this “pardoning” of cheats who owned up (we wonder in fear how many, and of the extent of their wrong-doing), who endangered many lives by cheating on maintenance, etc., must mean the culprits are being allowed to remain at their post. So commuters are being left to risk trains and track being left in the care of proven and unrepentant slackers, who confessed only to save their own skin?

The circuit breaker didn’t work because trains were still moving with lights & airvon running even when water level was up to the carriage floor & there was a fire in the tunnel. The circuit breaker wont work if only the water become live wire to kill the 1000s of commuters in flooded carriages. It’s the same like fallen electric cable in a thunderstorm. The circuit breaker will be activated only when the 3rd rail is connected to tracks.

  • Embarassing?:

This shameless MF has been transferred from one ministry to another several times and in each one he has nfi of what hisvduties are. He has been an icon of embarrassment to PAP and worse he has been an undeniable evidence of the stupidity of the entire Cabinet esp the nepotic imbercile. It has been a talking point of what this shit is wrt the keadership and will he be a real risk to the future of the leadership and other members including the party that he needs to be paid millions to constrain the risks he poses? Some clarification from the leadership is necessary to maintain whatever is left of the image. If really there is none, the shit should be charged and the statevshould recover whatever has been paid to him for not fulfilling his sworn duties. He is not only an embarrassment to PAP but aldo to human decency. Worse he is becoming an embarrassment to the faith he has sworn upon in his oath of office. No ability is not criminal but conning to have the ability at such humongous cost to the people is indeed criminal. His ministerial performance from his fisrt day to the present is solid evidence and perceived by ghe dntire nation.

It is long overdue that PAP owes the nation for positive action. Surely commuters would not be that daft to bite the pre GE carrots at the cost of their work, future and safety.
